WESTFIELD - Court documents released Friday are providing more details about the case against an Indianapolis man arrested Thursday for the murders of a Westfield woman and her daughter.
Christian Rene Haley is charged with eight counts, including murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, burglary resulting in serious bodily injury, theft and auto theft. He's accused of brutally beating the victims to death.
Haley was a former employee of Sundown Gardens, a lawn-care business owned by the victims' husband and father. The investigation found that Haley worked for Sundown Gardens for about three months, from March to June 2013. He was fired for poor attendance.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Westfield Police were called to a home on Oak Park Court at around 4:40 pm on Dec. 20. They found Marylyn and Kelley Erb dead in the home's basement, and the family's Buick Enclave was missing. Marylyn's husband discovered them when he returned home from work that afternoon.
Marylyn Erb, 52, and Kelley Erb, 23, died from blunt force trauma, according to the autopsies. The weapon used to kill them is unknown, although court documents quote an acquaintance of Haley's who reported Haley as saying he'd "bashed their heads in with cement or something."
Authorities say a cell phone tower in Westfield tower placed Haley close to the crime scene at the time of the murders.
The same acquaintance told police that Haley had talked about robbing an ex-boss because he'd gotten fired, and that Haley "is one of those guys who would go shoot the place up."

The heavy-set man caught earlier on a store's security camera with the victims' bankcards, is not the suspect and has not been charged, but someone recognized him, and he pointed at the suspect.
Our dear leaders want to prevent employers from doing criminal background checks too early in the hiring process. I have no idea whether a background check would have revealed danger signs in this case, but people have good reason to steer clear of criminals in hiring.
From the name, I thought perhaps this was not one of Obama kids.
wrong again.
As my son who lives nearby the incident pointed out if there had been a weapon in the home the outcome would probably have been very different
He’s just what I expected, based on the description of the crime.
me too. But the name made me wonder
The obituary of one of the victims states that she “passed away” at her home. It doesn’t mention that she and her daughter were brutally murdered by one of Obama’s sons.

Another black on white hate crime in fact.
Effing piece of garbage.
Garbage.
Another black hate crime, obvious from the blunt force rage used by a black man on two white women. Don’t hold your breath waiting for duh Feds (Eric Holder etc) to prosecute on the Federal level
Wake up people arm yourselves. We will soon hear from our liberal progressive mental doctors and senators that they will be presenting a bill to classify minority urban poor crimes a disease needing rehabilitation rather than jail time. This is called social justice! Free to kill again, meanwhile they want your guns but cannot or willnot protect you. At Christmas dinner I could not believe my ears! My niece and my sister both rabied supporters of the clown and his posse and the direction of this country were talking about guns and possibly buying one for home protection. I kept quiet and just smiled
No idea. State? Date? No clue
Indiana.
Just north of Indianapolis.
We were visiting some friends (wife gets along, but I don't have any sense of "like" with them) and they were bragging about their dog (I forget the type but it's about the size/shape of a lab). The guy said it's a really docile breed, but loyal and protective of its masters. He followed up with how he doesn't feel a bit of concern leaving his wife alone when he's on business trips as long as the dog is there to protect her. I told him that I felt the same way with my wife being able to grab her gun (or any of a number of conveniently placed weapons) and to be able to defend herself. I asked him how good a shot the dog was in case he was confronted by armed folks and he said that he doubted that it would ever happen. I reminded him of the major shootings where nobody thought it would ever happen and mentioned a few other incidents that nobody saw coming and he finally came out and said he didn't like guns. He wouldn't answer whether he hated guns more than he loved his wife. I doubt I'll be going back.
All of us in the area knew exactly where the murderer came from. We were hoping it would be a crazy friend or relative but Indianapolis criminals have been invading homes northward all year. They raped two white women during a home invasion in north Indianapolis (Nora area) a few months ago.
Murder was only a matter of time.
Gun sales are up in the area!
Only a matter of time....
