MSM Glosses Over Irony of Global Warming Scientists Trapped in Antarctic Ice
NewsBusters ^ | December 28, 2013 | P.J. Gladnick

Posted on 12/28/2013 3:57:37 PM PST by PJ-Comix

Somewhere far, far to the south where it is summer, a group of global warming scientists are trapped in the Antarctic ice. If you missed the irony of that situation, it is because much of the mainstream media has glossed over that rather inconvenient irony. As an example here is an Associated Press story that avoids mentioning the real mission of the scientists aboard the icebound Russian ship:

The Snow Dragon icebreaker came within 7 miles (11 kilometers) of the Russian ship MV Akademik Shokalskiy, which has been stuck since Christmas Eve, but had to retreat after the ice became too thick, said expedition spokesman Alvin Stone.

The Akademik Shokalskiy, which has been on a research expedition to Antarctica, got stuck Tuesday after a blizzard's whipping winds pushed the sea ice around the ship, freezing it in place. The ship wasn't in danger of sinking, and there are weeks' worth of supplies for the 74 scientists, tourists and crew on board, but the vessel cannot move.

So what was the exact mission of these scientists? AP is rather vague about this reporting only:

I thought this was interesting too, because it’s summer in the Southern Hemisphere. I had thought that getting stuck in ice on the seas near Antarctica would not happen this time of year.

And, considering global warming, how can this be? We have been told that the north pole is going to be ice free in the near future due to global warming. So it’s got to shock the global warming people that ships are stuck in the ice in Antarctica in the summertime.

They may need to burn them to keep warm. Heard the Chicom “rescue” ice breaker ship is unable to get to them yet. Plus there are 2 more “ice breakers” attempting. Dang summer in Antarctica.

That’s why they went down there in the summer to show the world that the ice is melting. How ironic.

Have no fear! They have an ample supply of Kyoto Accord documents on board; they can easily be rolled up into logs and burned for heat.

Read the final paragraph of the following excerpt from a section of Thomas Jefferson's "Notes on Virginia," as posted on another thread today about a totally different subject. The final paragraph may relate to the subject at hand:
Perhaps just a bit of Jeffersonian wisdom might warrant a little attention as an offset to the foolishness of the so-called "progressives" who have dominated our politics recently.

Excerpt from Jefferson's Notes on Virginia:

The Works of Thomas Jefferson, Federal Edition (New York and London, G.P. Putnam’s Sons, 1904-5). Vol. 4. Author: Thomas Jefferson Editor: Paul Leicester Ford Part of: The Works of Thomas Jefferson, 12 vols.
QUERY XVII

(Excerpt)
The different religions received into that state?
"But our rulers can have authority over such natural rights, only as we have submitted to them. The rights of conscience we never submitted, we could not submit. We are answerable for them to our God. The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others.1 But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg. If it be said his testimony in a court of justice cannot be relied on, reject it then, and be the stigma on him. Constraint may make him worse by making him a hypocrite, but it will never make him a truer man. It may fix him obstinately in his errors, but will not cure [293] them. Reason and free inquiry are the only effectual agents against error. Give a loose to them, they will support the true religion by bringing every false one to their tribunal, to the test of their investigation. They are the natural enemies of error, and of error only. Had not the Roman government permitted free inquiry, christianity could never have been introduced. Had not free inquiry been indulged, at the æra of the reformation, the corruptions of christianity could not have been purged away. If it be restrained now, the present corruptions will be protected, and new ones encouraged. Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now. Thus in France the emetic was once forbidden as a medicine, and the potatoe as an article of food.
Government is just as infallible, too, when it fixes systems in physics. Galileo was sent to the inquisition for affirming that the earth was a sphere; the government had declared it to be as flat as a trencher, and Galileo was obliged to abjure his error. This error however at length prevailed, the earth became a globe, and Descartes declared [294] it was whirled round its axis by a vortex. The government in which he lived was wise enough to see that this was no question of civil jurisdiction, or we should all have been involved by authority in vortices. In fact the vortices have been exploded, and the Newtonian principles of gravitation is now more firmly established, on the basis of reason, than it would be were the government to step in and to make it an article of necessary faith. Reason and experiment have been indulged, and error has fled before them. It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself. Subject opinion to coercion: whom will you make your inquisitors? Fallible men; men governed by bad passions, by private as well as public reasons. And why subject it to coercion? To produce uniformity. But is uniformity of opinion desireable? No more than of face and stature."
Note that although Jefferson discusses matters related to religion in the beginning of this excerpted portion of Query XVII, the final paragraph shown here relates to government's being "infallible" in matters related to science (physics) as well.

"Progressives," take note. Your attempts at coercion of opinion on scientific matters simply reveal your lack of understanding of the benefits of freedom of conscience and opinion.

Somewhere far, far to the south where it is summer, a group of global warming scientists are trapped in the Antarctic ice.

You just don't get it. Global warming caused the Arctic ice to melt, cooling the oceans, and causing more ice to form in the Antarctic. Soon Global Warming will cause the Antarctic ice to melt, further cooling the oceans, and we will all be covered in ice because of Global Warming!

It is so simple to understand if you weren't a Luddite. /s

it’s got to shock the global warming people that ships are stuck in the ice in Antarctica in the summertime.

The earth stopped warming seventeen years ago, yet the warmists are still running around worrying about ice caps melting. Something tells me that the irony of this present situation has completely escaped them.

Remember that a flotilla of yachts was stuck in the Arctic sea ice this past summer. They thought they could navigate the northwest passage because global warming had melted so much ice, but the ice grew instead.

That story made headline news around the world, but it never phased the true believers, who are now stuck in the ice again.

Isn’t this the same thing that happens, when these “GLOBAL WARMING” ding bats hold a meeting here. The day before, It snows like hell. How, they hope to prove that “GLOBAL WARMING” is real by going to Antarctica, and guess what, it gets so cold that their ship is ICE BOUND. It is my wish, that these people are all vegetarians, and the only thing left on board ship, is meat of all kinds. Now, I’m sure that GOD has a good sense of humor.

That list I posted was (I think) from the author of “Red Hot Lies”, Christopher Horner.

Basically, they can (and do) blame everything on it. Frigid temperatures are just another result of it.

It would be hilarious not only if you didn’t realize just how close they came to pulling it off before people got wise to it, but also that you know they are never going to sleep and are waiting for the next vulnerable opening to gain another foothold from a different perspective.

Their end goal (as Chirac pointed out) is a global governance. They might do it via global warming. It might have been global cooling. It might next be water or overpopulation.

But it is their end goal, not idiotic climate manipulation.
