As the Obamas Celebrate Christmas, Rituals of Faith Become Less Visible
The New York Times ^ | 12-28-13 | Ashley Parker

HONOLULU — President Obama celebrated a low-key Christmas in Hawaii this year. He sang carols, opened presents with his family, and visited a nearby military base to wish the troops “Mele Kalikimaka” — the Hawaiian phrase meaning “Merry Christmas.”

But the one thing the president and his family did not do — something they have rarely done since he entered the White House — was attend Christmas church services.

“He has not gone to church hardly at all, as president,” said Gary Scott Smith, the author of “Faith and the Presidency: From George Washington to George W. Bush,” adding that it is “very unusual for a president not to attend” Christmas services.

Historically, watching the nation’s first family head to church dressed in their Sunday best, especially around the holiday season, was something of a ritual. Yet Mr. Obama’s faith is a more complicated, more private, and perhaps — religious and presidential historians say — a more inclusive affair.

And his religious habits appear to be in step with a changing America, with fewer people these days reporting that they attend church on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve. According to a Pew Research Center study released this month, 54 percent of adults said they planned to attend Christmas religious services, while 69 percent said they traditionally did so as children.

Mr. Obama has gone to church 18 times during his nearly five years in the White House, according to Mark Knoller of CBS News, an unofficial White House historian, while his predecessor, Mr. Bush, attended 120 times during his eight years in office.

Like most socialist regimes in history, going back to the early 1900’s Obama is his own “god” and is at war with people of faith.

How is excluding oneself from a congregation inclusive?

It is absolutely flabbergasting that liberals have to go ultimate extremes of debasing former Presidents, large groups of Americans, and even societal mores with respect to religion and attendance to make this sorry assed affirmative action excuse of a President seem ‘normal’.

It started with Clinton’s atrocious White House sex antics where the media had to tear down Jefferson and any other former President to ‘normalize’ the acceptability of a bl@w j@b. The continue now on virtually every fallibility of this poser, all the way from explaining his need for constant golfing, his tolerance of Islam, and now his laid back and ‘personal’ approach to his ‘Christian’ religion.

As if he ever was one.

It’s not his fault. It’s hard to find Marxist churches.

I was gonna say you forgot the BARF ALERT, but when “Obama” is in the headline, it’s understood.

Oh, yes. You see, Obama is just so brilliant and nuanced and so much more intelligent than the rest of us, blah, blah, blah.

Honestly, Obama is ruining my Christian spirit. He is definitely bad for my blood pressure and it’s just too early for a glass of wine!

The one thing Obama never forgets to do is have all the Muslims over to the WH for Ramadan.

Obama is no Christian why should he attend a Church?

The question I have is where did Hillary got to Church?

She will be showing up soon in all the black Churches campaigning.

He used religion when it was helpful. It is no longer needed as he has risen as far as it can help him go. In order to attain more power he needs an external crisis like a nuclear Iran to allow him to declare martial law. Then he can suspend elections and become a full fledged dictator.

Why would he go to church? Obama’s object of worship is himself. He can conduct his own worship service in front of the bathroom mirror.

Going to church was never mentioned in the article but he DID sang carols, opened presents with his family, and visited a nearby military base (probably to play golf instead of visiting our troops).

The whole story made me want to barf! What a hypocritical ba$tard he truly is.

Many people are afraid of Baby Anybody. President Punished-With-a-Baby is an extreme example, but not really different in kind of myriads of others.

An earlier version also misstated the number of years Mr. Obama has been in the White House. It is nearly five, not six.

It seems like an eternity.

“Christmas” is a Romish superstition invented by the emperor Constantine to provide cover for the pagan worship of evergreens and mistletoe and to distract us from the real date of Jesus’ birth which is March 25th, or September 9th or July 4th. /s

“As our priest noted in his Christmas homily, “Some people are afraid of Baby Jesus.””

Our new bishop told us at the Christmas Eve Mass that “the Infant Jesus is God’s gift to us today and everyday. It is the most precious gift of all. And, Jesus keeps giving in that He is near us always. We are never alone when we have Jesus in our lives.”

It started with Clinton’s atrocious White House sex antics

I still haven't gotten over the left's claims that lying about sex is OK...even in a court of law.

Even the women went along with this one. What a sterling example for our kids. Blow jobs are not sex, and sex is the one thing you can lie about in a court of law.

This is the Clinton legacy.

The article goes at length to say that Barack Obama IS a Christian and does everything it can to omit his koranic studies, paperwork indicating he was enrolled as a muslim, etc.

His vision of faith is also an inclusive one, perhaps an outgrowth of his own eclectic upbringing. He spent several childhood years in Indonesia, with its predominantly Muslim population, but attended a private Catholic grade school for much of that time; he later lived in Hawaii, a melting pot of cultures.

FUNYT

Could someone x'splain to me why an agnostic mother or two muslim fathers would "baptize" their son as a Christian and send him to study Catholicism? It doesn't add up. Barack bragged later that he came to Christianity as an adult, that this somehow made him to superior to those who were "indoctrinated" as children. And it was Jeremiah Wright (a former muslim) who supposedly "brought Obama to Christ".

I'm not buying any of it. It was shuck and jive for those who cling to religion.
