WASHINGTON — The personal e-mail account of a State Department whistleblower was hacked, and four years worth of messages — some detailing alleged wrongdoing at the agency — were deleted, The Post has learned.

The computer attack targeted the Gmail account of Diplomatic Security Service criminal investigator Richard Higbie, his lawyer, Cary Schulman, confirmed.

“They took all of his e-mails and then they deleted them all,” said Schulman. He said that he could not prove who was responsible for the hack job, but said the attack was “sophisticated” and called the targeting of Higbie “alarming.”

Depends on the data. Pictures, music, and video I don’t see as particularly vulnerable to exploitation. Anything of value like legal paperwork, real estate documents, bank statements, licenses, etc. you should absolutely encrypt.

If he doesn’t have a local copy of all his mail, he’s a major fool.

The willing accomplices at Google do.

I wouldn't let anything "google" related anywhere near my computer.

“Diplomatic Security Service criminal investigator”

Why would such a person be using Gmail?

Same here. Google is the devil. The only difference between Google and the NSA is that Google is actually quite competent.

Not at all. All it takes is a call from someone in Zero's administration to their partners at Google... simple as that.

HILLARY’S FLYING MONKEYS OF 2016.

SHE is the candidate and this is all about her impending run, same as that stupid NYT Bengazi blowjob yesterday.

The left knows after Barry us finished they need Hillary to keep progressivism going.

THEY ARE DEEPLY AFRAID

[Maybe it was a trap, and maybe they just caught the rat they were after.]

That makes sense. Even if it wasn’t a trap, early on the lawyer would have insisted multiple copies of this correspondence be made and stored in secure locations. I hope.

“Not surprising under this administration”
*************************************************
No, not surprising at all. There are now Obamaites placed & scattered throughout the bureaucracy. They carry out illegal surveillance and other illegal operations against the perceived enemies (such as Tea Party groups targeted by the IRS) of the progressives and protect these illegal operations from being uncovered.

The federal civil service is now completely corrupted and filled with Stasi wannabees who serve the progressive agenda however they can.
