Russian President Vladimir Putin has carefully cultivated a tough-guy image, but the reality, at least in terms of his response to Jihad has been something different.
Many in the US assume that Putin will act forcefully to punish those who were behind the two Islamikaze bombings in Volgograd this week, but history tells us that he wont.
Many in the West assume simple-mindedly that the Jihadist assault on Russia is tied to separatist rebels in Chechnya. But Jihad goes way beyond localized disputes and the Jihadists dont just have their sights set on Chechnya; they see the site of the Summer Olympics in Sochi as Muslim territory stolen by Russia as well.
Speaking of Chechnya, if one looks at Putins response to that conflict, its hard to see it as standing up to Jihad. He basically hand-selected a former Jihadi named Ramzan Kadyrov to rule Chechnya. This has in fact resulted in reduced violence in Chechnya, but not overall Jihadi violence in Russia. And considering Kadyrovs own philosophy, it is hard to differentiate between him and his former brothers in arms

I don’t get it. He’s saving hi ammo to use against us when he may really need our help. Weren’t they there for us on the Boston bombings?
He may be saving it up for the Saudis. This could get interesting.
Well if they need to coordinates for their missiles....

Interesting perspective. I paricularly liked the term “islamikaze.”
I’m no fan of Putin. However, he is going to do what he perceives as best for him. Being perceived as “weak” is definitely not what he wants. I would expect to see some fairly aggressive action on his part.
As for appointing an islamist to run chechnya again, Putin is going to do what he sees as best for him. If that means buying off the opposition then that’s what he is going to do. No surprise and frankly I don’t think that’s all that bad of an idea. Obviously local sensibilities favor women covering their head and refraining from alcohol. This isn’t Boston we’re talking about here.

In fact there is a footage of Russian response for a Boston bombings. It seems like they aren’t lazy to avenge US civilians slaughtered far away, do you really think there are no response to terror on ther own soil? If it is not reported by the media most of the time it doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened.
