Is this the future for all of us?
Your link is to a piece titled “Obese Girl Denied Weight Loss Surgery.”
There is an over under problem here and she never appealed.
Hey, you can’t bend the demand curve down without breaking a few eggs. So to speak.
Where are the, “hospitals are prefect” Freepers to defend this?
husband was active duty for 13 years we have had services denied as well services that were promised at the time of non-voluntary overseas orders being cut.
husband and I have no regrets regarding his time on active duty but not because of the overwhelming pc bureaucracy that is now pervasive but because of the outstanding people we have met all over the globe.
Is this the future for all of us?
No. It's the future for the commoners. Party members always receive special treatment.
Could very well be, TriCare is Gov't health insurance for the armed services.
Harry Reid will be pleased...
If this is the same story I read the other day, this young girl’s obesity was caused by either the tumor or the durgery and the surgery she needs is not a gastric bypass to stop her from eating, but a surgery necessary to cure a rare side effect occurring from the tumor she had removed. I can’t remember if her obesity was life threatening, but I do remember that the insurance company was reinvestigating the case and might go ahead and grant payment for the surgery after all.
All the 0bamaDontCare afflicted should camp out on the ellipse.
Thought so, saw a news article about it earlier.
I wasn't about to pay anyone a click for recycled news.
And you are a DESPICABLE human being for referring to her that way.
"Skinny chick" doesn't describe her very well.
What's the main thing you notice when you see her?
TRICARE is for the military, obummer’s favorite social proving ground.
Despicable describes humble pretty well. He’s not offended by it though, he takes pride in it.
That is the correct link.
That is the correct link.
What does this have to do with a hospital?
I have asked the admins to take down your post.
I ask other FReepers to join me in doing so.
What exactly did the hospital do wrong?
Lots of people pay for their own weight loss surgery. If this was my child I would do everything in my power to pay for it myself. I’m sure the doctors and hospital would be willing to take payments. They could even go to their church or other organizations to ask for help.
People are going to have to learn to take care of themselves. Just because insurance denies something doesn’t mean you can’t have it. Making sure your children get what they need is the most important thing you do.
I feel sorry for this young girl. I hope her family finds a solution.
Excellent conservative post!
Pitchforks and torches for the non-PC!
I agree that there are other options. However insurance companies are a big part of the problem. They will routinely deny care just to save money, not because the insured isn’t entitled to the care under the contract. Hoping the person will go away or find a cheaper option.
You are right on the money, Standing Wolf.
Thank you. I’m sure there are those who will not agree.
I do get tired of people running to the press for sympathy points before all other options have been looked in to. I can’t tell you how many times someone has said to me that they can’t take a certain drug because their insurance denied it. When I ask them why they don’t pay for it themselves they act shocked.
I really do hope she gets the help she needs and would even been willing to contribute to a fund to help if her parents really couldn’t afford it.
Sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands.
Yes, there are times you have to fight the insurance company. What’s more important is getting your child the help she/he needs. You can’t just sit around and say well the insurance company won’t pay for it so sorry kid you’re just going to have to suffer. Everybody can’t get on tv and have a sympathetic blond chick get your insurance company to pay.
It’s not going to get any better.
Well in today’s environment using the media and social networking is a very effective way of putting pressure on the insurance companys.
If I recall correctly the surgery is $50k. The sort of thing people buy insurance for. The bigger concern is they said she was too young for the surgery which is different then ‘its not covered’.
You could contact ryan, he a friend of - Oh wait he’s the guy that stabbed the vets in the back - never mind.
I agree completely, but after fighting the insurance company the media shouldn't be the next stop at it only very rarely ever works and is often a time waster when other options are viable.
I would think that often enough time and energy is wasted that no other options are pursued.
When my son needed a major surgery which wasn’t covered by the insurance I negotiated lower fees from the doctors and hospital that the insurance would pay.
.......I’ll bet she will end up at Dell Children’s Hospital.
Another adult conservative option.
Well there were no pediatric neurosurgeons or pediatric cranial-facial plastic surgeons on our plan.
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
If you are a member of the inner party, health care is assured.
If you are a member of the outer party, you can get the costly bare bones “Bronze Plan”.
If you are a prol, you get a death panel and a bucket of fried chicken.
That makes your successful negotiations all the more impressive.
Watermelon iced tea and fried chicken (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organisation of this farm depend on us.
Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink the watermelon iced tea and eat those fried chickens.
Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty? The Bushs would come back! Yes, the Bushs would come back! Surely, comrades,' cried Squealer almost pleadingly, skipping from side to side and whisking his tail, 'surely there is no one among you who wants to see the Bushs come back?'
