HAPPY (almost) NEW YEAR, everyone.
I'm saying it now incase I am not
at the Canteen tomorrow.
We do not go out to celebrate but
we are having company in the morning.

WOW, it's really hard to believe
that we are getting ready to say
goodbye to 2013.
I'm sure some of us are old enough
to understand this:
back in the 1960s, if we were to think of 2014
we'd be thinking "Jetsons" or "Flash Gordon" future.

No, we're no where near that advanced now,
but it seemed so far away, then.

Sometimes it does feel like we are flying
at the speed of light toward the distant future.
But that might be due to me getting older.

Time for me to make my rounds.
But, please stay right where you are.
Chat up the military or a family member.

Now remember, the Canteen is ALWAYS

So, come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

I spent about 9 months in Ft. Campbell in 1968 in HHC of an engineering battalion. It was quite a change form being in small units and quite an education.
