UNION COUNTY, Ohio - Local immigration activists say they want to see better treatment for a father who is charged with fleeing the scene of an accident after his son was struck and killed after falling from his family's moving minivan in Union County on Thursday.
Natividad de Jesus Hernandez, 30, was given a $500,000 bond in court Friday morning. He has another hearing set for Monday morning at 8 a.m.
In his Friday hearing, Hernandez appeared to struggle to understand what the judge was saying. A bystander told the court Hernandez spoke limited English.Ruben Castilla Herrera is a Columbus immigration activist who has been following the case.
"I got calls from people throughout the state saying there's an issue here. First of all it's a language issue. It's amazing that in Ohio in 2013 that language is an issue, getting interpreters or translators in a moment," Herrera said.
Hernandez's 4-year-old son, Angel Gustabo Hernandez, was struck and killed when he fell from the minivan his father was driving Thursday morning at about 11:05 a.m.
Hernandez is accused of leaving the scene after his son was struck. Court documents state he did not follow the ambulance to the hospital and made no attempt to contact a law enforcement agency after he left the scene.
Angel was transported to Dublin Methodist Hospital where he later died. He was not secured in a child safety seat or booster at the time of the crash, according to troopers

So. They want to molly-coddle these illegals and pat them on the hand when they screw up.
This tells me and every other normal thinking individual that they could care less that a child was killed. They evidently see this as only a little mexican immigrant baby has been killed, so no big deal.
“I got calls from people throughout the state saying there’s an issue here. First of all it’s a language issue. It’s amazing that in Ohio in 2013 that language is an issue, getting interpreters or translators in a moment,” Herrera said.
What’s amazing is that in 2013 an “immigrant” can’t be bothered to learn even the basics of English when “immigrating” to an English speaking country.
Another American Citizen killed by an illegal alien.
I am not sure I understand this.
This guy was driving a mini van that was involved in an accident and his son was tossed out of the van. Then instead of checking on his son he drove away??
Now these people want better interpreters?
I would think they would be looking for a hanging rope.
Ah yes....we all remember when evil America stole Ohio from La Raza.
Viva La Reconquista!
Maybe they can arrange for the father to invoke the Melissa Harris-Perry doctrine:
When does life begin? I submit the answer depends an awful lot on the feeling of the parents. A powerful feeling but not science, Harris-Perry said on her show Sunday."
The father can just say he doesn't FEEL the child was a living human yet, so there was no harm done. It's just a regular vehicle accident with no loss of life.
It isn't rocket science. Send home the invaders.
From the article:
VHowever, a witness to the crash called 911 and told dispatchers that Hernandez had stopped the van after his son was struck and waited for the Union County Sheriff’s deputies and medic personnel to arrive.
ideo from the dash camera of the first Union County Sheriff’s deputy cruiser to respond to the scene of Thursday’s fatal crash involving a 4-year-old boy shows the child’s father was left alone at the scene after the ambulance arrived.
“He told me they just took him out of my hands. They didn’t tell me nothing, they didn’t ask me his name, they just left. I waited for two minutes for an officer to come and tell me what to do. They never came,’” said Cristina Sanchez, Hernandez’s girlfriend said Friday.
In the dash camera video released by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the arriving deputy can be seen helping the medics load the child into the ambulance before getting into the driver’s seat to help transport the child.
The child’s father can been seen pacing around the van after the ambulance leaves the scene before he getting into the van and driving away.

It appears he left the scene only after police and medics arrived, then they took his son away without attempting to tell him where he was being taken.
They want better interpreters.
I want better aliens.
To the tune of “The Frito Bandito”
Ay, ay ay ay!
We are the illegal aliens.
We like California,
we take it from you.
We come to Ohio,
we’re taking it too.
Ay, ay ay ay!
We are the illegal aliens.
Sorry I should have read farther.
My bad.
illegals have licenses to kill, and our’own citizen nutjobs here advocate for them.
You weren’t alone FRiend.
Happy New Years.
He stayed until his son was put in the ambulance by paramedics. Then he fled. Which is a lot better than the excerpt makes it appear.
As for the translator, Hernandez may not be fluent in Spanish either but only in an Indian language.
In general, our legal and health systems bend over backwards to provide translators but it is ridiculous to expect us to come up with translators for an obscure language for an illegal immigrant.
Let's quickly review this case.
1. Can't speak English or refuses to learn.
2. In the country illegally and fighting deportation.
3. Ran over his own child and killed him.
4. Lied to the police.
Two questions. Was he drunk? Is he working illegally in the US?
A few million more "immigrants" like this guy and you can kiss the USA goodbye.
If he is seen leaving on the dash cam video then the officer was still at the scene.
The child's father can been seen pacing around the van after the ambulance leaves the scene before he getting into the van and driving away.
I can't tell for sure, but it sort of sounds like the deputy left his vehicle at the site and drove the ambulance???
Plus Troopers tell NBC4 Hernandez had left the scene to transport his other two children home before going to the hospital.
Which makes me wonder why they charged him with fleeing the scene of an accident instead of child endangerment resulting in the death of a child.
Yes. Manslaughter then deportation. What was he doing at the home under construction?
