Bill Nye “The Science Guy” will debate founder of Creation Museum in Kentucky

It’s a debate that will surely end with a Big Bang.

Bill Nye “The Science Guy” will square off with Ken Ham, the founder of the Kentucky Creation Museum, in a February discussion on the subject of teaching children evolution.

The spiritual showdown, which is unlikely to with either man relinquishing their firmly-held beliefs, will take place on Ham’s home turf of Petersburg, Ky. “Having the opportunity to hold a cordial but spirited debate with such a well-known personality who is admired by so many young people will help bring the creation-evolution issue to the attention of many more people, including youngsters,” Ham said in a statement.

. . . . . .
“Bill Nye really doesn't understand science,” Ham said in the video, without a shred of irony. “Bill Nye also has an agenda to teach children not to believe in God.”

Nye will lose.
He cannot answer the question:

How did life start?.............

Why is it a "spiritual showdown"? These are empirical facts. Geology and paleontology doesn't change based on your religion. There's no Christian physics or Muslim chemistry, there's just physics and chemistry.

I wish science could get a better spokesman than an Al Gore standard bearer though.

The problem is that “science” can’t time travel.
You can experiment in the here and now,
and only conjecture about the past.

“... without a shred of irony”

Did anyone else spot the bias?

Two competing theories and neither satisfy me.. The truth is that nobody knows.

The problem is that “science” can’t time travel.

Sure it can. Tonight, if it is not too cold, look up into the sky. You're looking at hundred, thousands, possibly millions of years into the past. With a telescope you can see billions of years into the past.

You’re making a uniformitarian assumption with that.
Time and speed of light are constant? Always were? How do you know?

Nye can only give boiler plate answers.

I’d love to hear Nye debate Ravi Zacharias on this issue.

Time is certainly not constant. Time is relative. One of the reasons you can see things that happened billions of years ago right now.

I’ll pray for your mind and heart to be opened to the truth. Read Norman Geisler and Frank Turek’s book “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Athiest” and maybe the light will come on for you. Plenty of science, history and logic to prove that creation is true.

Unfortunately this debate will be used by both sides to denigrate the views they disagree with for years to come. All people of Faith will have the weak scientific arguments of this creation museum guy thrown in their face, and those who believe that evolution is part of God’s Creation will have Bill Nye’s stumbles endlessly dragged out. I can’t think of two worse guys to have a debate like this. They are leaving out the views of the huge segment of us who hold a deep Faith in God while accepting that the Universe is billions of years old.

Bill Nye is a ding-dong liberal, but creation is as much ding-dong. Let science bear out scientific facts without the drama. C’mon FRiends, just get real and stick to your Constitutional, God-given right to freedom for all humanity policies and stop this religious bunk. We have more important things affecting the American supremacy now.

Matthew 19:4 (KJV)

4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,...

Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16) , knows and confirms the Genesis account in this one verse -- God created Adam and Eve fully formed. And stepping out of eternity he communicated this to man. He is the Creator (John 1:1,2).

So, any Christian who doesn't know this is grossly misinformed. But most likely is a Christian in name only and is not saved, since it is the Holy Spirit which teaches all truth and every saved person has the "earnest" of his inheritance. (Ephesians 1,2).

Well done, Gunny. I’ve been enjoying the night display of Orion and Jupiter chasing him across the sky the last several weeks. Betelgeuse and his friends are so far away, that it really makes a person stare in awe at the wonder of nature and physics. And we are ONLY gazing upon our own galaxy. Beyond are the galaxy clusters, local groups, super groups. We don’t know anything yet. Religion doesn’t diminish our quest for knowledge.
