O.J. Simpson begs Obama: Free me; I’m dying from brain cancer
The Washington Times ^ | January 3, 2014 | Cheryl K. Chumley

Former NFL great turned criminal, O.J. Simpson, has issued a plea for clemency to President Obama, claiming he may have brain cancer and should be allowed to leave his Nevada jail cell and go free.

The 66-year-old is currently serving a 33-year sentence for kidnapping and robbery.

But he’s being tested for a tumor on his brain to determine whether he has cancer — and he’s convinced that he’s due to die any day now, The Mirror News reported.

This statement by the criminal reminds of the one saying he'd find the real killer.

The article I read never says he actually has it but he thinks he does. I’ll believe it when the doctors say it.

I really could see him doing it after November when he has nothing to lose. Let’s hope Obama care keeps him alive till then.

Isn’t OJ one of Obama’s sons?

Was he convicted on Federal charges? Or is Obama Governor of Nevada as his second job?

I don’t think that the President can pardon persons convicted of state (or local) crimes, only federal ones. So, The Butcher of Brentwood will have to look elsewhere for a pardon.

Exactly...He has diabetes but has not been diagnosed as having brain cancer, he’s come down to begging now.

1) He’s not serving a 33 year sentence.

2) Barky can’t do squat for him - he was convicted on state charges.

No, he was convicted in a Nevada State Court, I don’t believe 0bama can free him.

Haven’t you heard? We’re a banana republic now. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

What jurisdiction would Obama have to intervene with any kind of action to free OJ, who was convicted under Nevada state law (not Federal Law)?

It worked great for the Locherbie bomber, too.
Ya know, I remember when Simpson first started with Buffalo. It was a story about a kid coming out of the ghetto and making something of himself. One of the stories I remember about his gang life was his knack for fighting with a knife in each hand. Funny how that never came up in the murder trial. Would have nicely explained the two kinds of knives used to butcher Nicole.

Power of pardon granted to the president by the Constitution is plenary. He can pardon anyone for any crime in any U.S. jurisdiction.
