WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. Rand Paul says he is filing suit against the Obama administration over the data-collection policies of the National Security Agency. And on his website, he's urging Americans to join the lawsuit, in his words, "to stop Barack Obama's NSA from snooping on the American people."

I think he’d have more luck if he files the lawsuit in another country. Barry’s Bench Boys will toss this one in a heartbeat here. They hate this country and the people who call themselves Americans.

I personally detest the surveillance state. I find it to be an afront to everything that America is supposed to stand for and, as such, I completely support Rand Paul in this. I hope he stands and fights hard and I suspect he will. It’s all about principles and politics.

As I mentioned on another thread, our government now invests more time, money, and effort snooping on its own citizens then we did intercepting and analyzing radio traffic from the Imperial Japanese Navy and German U-boats.... combined. Any rational person should find that worrisome.

The reason I posted this thread was the egregious error in the Newsday headline - reflective of the substantive banality of their editorial offerings.

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

He’s already adopting the Chinese custom of “last name first”.

It is not very high on my list of things to worry about.

We could focus on at least twenty other major salami slices on the path to where we are now. If the patient is dying of cardiopulmonary disease, dementia, renal shutdown and sepsis, the fact that the patient also likes to watch the neighbors with binoculars should not have much of a priority.

I think Senator Paul could find something much more effective to do with his time than jousting at windmills.

This should be pursued in civil court too. Rules and jurisdictions are different there. I’m thinking that the blood thirsty trial lawyers need a new target. Perhaps a class action lawsuit against the NSA for invasion of privacy, degradation of computers and networks, machine and software obsolescence due to virus and malware injection, lost productivity due to upgrading computer security, theft of personal information, theft of proprietary information, theft of financial information, theft of network services and violation of civil rights. Financial damages to computer corporations that they subverted. I’m sure I could think of hundreds more tangible claims.

Sic the trial lawyers on them. Microsoft,Google,Comcast,Apple might even pay for some of the best lawyers. Installing backdoors and tapping datacenter feeds?? They lost a lot of money due to all of this. So did we all.

The youngsters and progressives don't like being spied on either. Paul's actions shine the light and highten the attention on Obama's spying, turning the aforementioned groups away from Obama.

Hopefully some of that Obama disdain can be focused on dem candidates in the 2014 congressional elections.

I guess... My job in the military was operating TS NSA provided eqpt. They have been around for a long time and will continue in some form long after we are gone. If anyone is foolish enough to think citizens haven't been “spied upon” in the past, I pity the fool.
