ObamaCare forces poor cancer patients into crippling debt
ap/ny post ^ | january 4, 2013

For working people making modest wages and struggling with high medical bills from chronic disease, President Barack Obama’s health care plan sounds like long-awaited relief. But the promise could go unfulfilled.

It’s true that patients with cancer and difficult conditions such as multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease will be able to get insurance and financial help with monthly premiums.

But their annual out-of-pocket costs could still be so high they’ll have trouble staying out of debt.

You couldn’t call them uninsured any longer. You might say they’re “underinsured.”

These gaps “need to be addressed in order to fulfill the intention of the Affordable Care Act,” said Brian Rosen, a senior vice president of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “There are certainly challenges for cancer patients.”

“Cost may still be an issue for those in need of the most care,” said Steven Weiss, spokesman for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. That “makes it critically important for patients looking at premiums to also consider out-of-pocket costs when choosing a plan.”

Out-of-pocket costs include a health plan’s annual deductible, which is the amount before insurance starts paying, as well as any copayments and cost-sharing.

All this is doing is creating more individuals with pre-existing conditions once their “illegal” coverage is dropped. Nice job Democrats!

I think what has been done is the ultimate evil. It gives hope that can not be fulfilled. The devastation that will happen when these people find out the hard way that the deductibles are so horrendously high can’t even be imagined. Especially after these people have been made to think it’s all free.

All the easier for the left to argue for single payer. All part of the long term plan.

Have they used the word "glitch" to refer to this, yet another issue with Barrycare?? One of the most irritating aspects in the reporting of Barrycare's problems is the Media's use of the word "glitch" to refer to them.

A "glitch" is when there is a small problem that is easily fixed. The Media has appropriated this word to refer to the complete and utter failures associated with Barrycare.

The Media holds a huge share of the blame for the suffering of these people, because they did not investigate and report truthfully about Barrycare in 2009. Instead they covered up, lied, and propagandized.

No, Obamacare doesn’t force low income working people into debt. It forces them into welfare dependency.

Who do Democrats (and Pope Francis) care about? Those at the bottom. The pathetic.

Who do Republicans care about? Those in-between the bottom and middle. The lower part of the middle class. The men and women who struggle to work, raise children and make ends meet. They are our heroes.

The Democrats want to turn the lower-middle class into a new strata of moochers.

The Republicans want to enable those in the lower-middle class to at least have a chance at being productive and happy, if not to rise to another level; secure in the earned self-esteem of knowing that, win or lose, through thick and thin, they made their own lives.

Toiling,—rejoicing,—sorrowing,
Onward through life he goes;
Each morning sees some task begin,
Each evening sees it close;
Something attempted, something done,
Has earned a night’s repose.

We are the party both of the donkey (those who work) and of the elephant (freedom and equality).

OBAMACARE BLUNDERS ON The genocide of old people has begun.The contractor building the financial management system for Healthcare.gov delayed Medicare reimbursements causing missed payrolls for weeks. Novitas Solutions is the fed's new Medicare payment processor for south-central US....hired by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of HHS. According to the CEO Jason Leday, more than 150 employees (w/ mtges and other crucial expenses) haven't been paid in nearly a month.

LOCKSTEPPING DUMBOCRATS VOTED STRAIGHT PARTY LINE FOR THIS ... the biggest ACA whopper is yet to be exposed: the feds tightening their grip over your doctor and your healthcare. Section 1311(h)(1)(B) gives the Secretary of HHS blanket authority to dictate how doctors treat patients. Not just patients in government programs like Medicare and Medicaid, but patients with private plans they pay for themselves. On Dec. 2, 2013, we learned from the Federal Register that the rules are now being written. Starting in 2015, insurance companies will be barred from doing business with doctors who fail to comply.

More than half the cost of O/Care's so-called "senior entitlement" scam is subsidized by actually restricting and rationing senior care---by cutting what hospitals, doctors, hospice care, home care and Advantage plans are paid to care for seniors.

THE CUTS ARE NO ACCIDENT: "Tolerant and compassionate" Obama knows that the most expensive h/care is delivered the last three years of life.......

===============================

Sen Harry Reid, 74, recently said that enrolling in O/Care costs him about $4,500 more than before. But Harry says that's OK b/c the increase is "age-related.”

(Sniffle) "Tolerant and compassionate" Obama knows that the most expensive h/care is delivered the last three years of life...so oldsters HAVE to pay more (sob).

Heck, socking Harry w/ a massive increase could even save money. For sure, decrepit Sen Harry will necessitate expensive medical care for diseases of old age including the ones he's being treated for now--- senility, Alzheimer's, dementia, arthritis, osteoarthritis, heart problems, heart attacks, stroke, kidney failure, prostate enlargement, osteoporosis (brittle bones)....etc.

Course, just in case ol' Harry hangs in there, Obamacare's I-PAB kicks in to ration medical care when stubborn old buzzards like Harry insist on getting more healthcare than his lousy $4500 per month entitles him to.

---------------------------------------------------

Harry's dam lucky he represents Nevada---if he represented Alaska, he'd been on the ice floe w/ the rest of the older, sick Eskimos----floating out into the frigid Arctic Ocean wearing a sealskin coat, bearskin shorts, and a pair of mukluks.

We have completly blured the lines between healtc care and health insurance. Your car insurance doesn't cover oil changes.

Insurance run by the government is also another way to force choices many don't want. Your insurance covers contraceptives, will soon cover 'transgender' services.

Get the government out of my health care!

Exactly so. And how long before we start reading about people who have been “forced into bankruptcy” by their Obamacare deductibles and/or lack of coverage, like we’ve been told happened all the time in the past.

Get the government out of my health care!

We'd need to go back in time to WW2 and revisit the link between health insurance and employment contract. We have a system with socialized cost but individualized benefits. Since it's taken 70 years to create the current fiasco, it's unlikely that it can be fixed in just a few years.

Obamacare is just another in a long line of half-baked politicians' "quick fix" ideas for health care. All it does is make a bad system even worse. Again.

The Germans and British don't have true "single payer" systems -- about 15% and 10% have private insurance respectively. I don't think Americans would put up with a true single payer system, either. (Obama couldn't be bothered to sign up for Obamacare himself. He sent a lackey. He's not going to be sitting in a DMV setting waiting for his number to be called. Despite the dreams of the socialists, neither will Bill Gates, Warren Buffett or Donald Trump. Or anyone else whose time is too valuable to waste.)

I am against obamacare
BUT
what do we do for people with serious and chronic conditions?
let them die because they are unlucky enough to get seriously ill?

The whole theory and application of obamacare is to thin the herd of the weak, old, infirm, and crippled. In other words, the national democratic social progressive party’s implementation of an “ultimate solution”.

And here all of you thought the idea of eugenics went away with the demise
of the robber barron progressives, and socialist-marxist-fascist-mercantilst types. Remember the golden rule: “He who has the gold, makes the rules, and will rule over you”.

If we had better controls and didn’t allow so many to game the system when they could afford their own health care we would have enough saved from the fraud to help those unlucky enough to get serious illnesses

ONE caveat
people who don’t help themselves overcome obesity smoking and exvessive alcohol
In other words people should have some responsibility for much of their own health
