Britain's version of Tea Party rocks political system across the pond

The often stale British political system is being rocked by its very own Tea Party.

The UK Independence Party (UKIP), formed in 1993 opposing Britain’s entry into the European Union, failed to make an electoral dent for a long time. However UKIP has built up steam in recent years and is spearheading a seismic shift in the British political spectrum.

In this year’s local elections – the British version of midterms -- UKIP took a stunning 23 percent of the vote, up from the 3.1 percent they won in the 2010 national election. Their leader, Nigel Farage, is buoyed by their recent success.

“We want to take back our country, we want to take back our government, and we want to take back our birthright,” Farage told FoxNews.com in forthright language rarely seen in British politics.

Lib Dems are sort of a cross between Labour (liberal, left spectrum) and Conservative (right spectrum) the liberal democrat moniker confuses those outside the UK to think they are like American Dems, they’re actually more like a British libertarian, Labour is the UK version of the Democratic Party.

Tea Party candidate runs in primary against establishment (liberal)RINO. Tea Party candidate wins primary. Establishment (liberal) Rino refuses to endorse winner and runs as an independent in the general election. Democrat wins election when Republican votes are split.

That's how it works...RINOs and Democrats are happy and our country sinks further into the abyss.

We'll see.

How many more years do you propose we give it?

The Tea Party only been around for 3 years, it is having an effect. If you want to take yourself out of the primary process go ahead, but the primaries are the GOPe Achilles heel.

Thank you for the correction.

The parallels are:

US GOPe = UK Conservative Party
US Democrats = UK Labor Party
US Tea Party = UK Independence Party
US Libertarians = UK Liberal Democrats

That should cover it.

The Collaborators can defect to the democrats who make up the ruling class. They need not start their own party.

But many will attempt to join back with Tea Party Republicans and they will talk so well; they’re so good at talking. They are chameleons.

-— It’s 2014 now. Has that worked? -—

We wouldn’t have Cruz, Haley and Paul without the Tea Party. We should have more gains this time around, even if it is too late.

“I’d prefer that we conservatives take over the Republican Party, and let the Collaborators start their own party.”

The fate of third parties has not been good in this country; however, the Republican Party was born out of the northern anti-slavery branch of the Whig Party; a third party in the time of troubles that was the pre- U.S. Civil War 1850s that in many ways has ominous parallels with the events of today.

I’m sure if this happened the GOP would go the way of the Whig Party, that is into the footnotes of American history and the RINOS would join formally the party of socialism - the Democrats.

...and the desks cleared for action as the cannons are rolled out...

Great Britain is literally committing cultural suicide with their immigration policies. Many hear that phrase uttered and scream racism. Destroying ones identity to avoid being called racist is in my opinion the height of insanity.
I’m not even delving into the false economic stimulus argument on their shores and ours. Sure you ,ay tax to help social security but they small amount they pay out into that future debit is nothing compared to whats taken out at the present time by those same immigrants.

Forgive me I did not read the article.

similarities between Liberal Dems and GOP? No similarities that I can see

Abortion, gay marriage and the removal of Christ/God from Public square/classroom, those are all things that I am against.

Liberal Dems and moderate Republicans may have those 3 evils as similarities , but nothing I am interested in.

I am not interested 1 bit in any Tea Party whatever, that is not pro life pro family and pro God

I would sooner not vote than be part of such a group

Well there is a lot of EU regulations and forms that they could dump into the English Channel.

Nigel Farage of the UKIP is spectacular!!

We need one of him here in the US. I’ve watched all of his videos rabble rousing at the EU. He’s a good study for aspiring conservative politicians in the USA.

For those who don’t pay much attention to the PATHETIC EU, here’s a good primer:

And that’s why trying to take back the GOP is fruitless. If it wasn’t for the Koch Bros supporting conservatives, we’d already be to the left of John McCain.
