The agency responsible for implementing ObamaCare will release a report on Monday showing slow growth in national healthcare spending.
The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) will brief reporters at the National Press Club on what the Obama administration has touted as a trend of slower healthcare spending growth since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
The CMS data are considered the standard for determining U.S. healthcare spending statistics.
Earlier this year, the White House released a report that showed healthcare spending has grown at the slowest rate on record and crediting the Affordable Care Act.
The report, produced by the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) in late November, was released as the administration sought to emphasize positive news about the new law amid stories about its troubled website and the cancellation of millions of individual health plans.
Monday’s report comes at an equally important time for the healthcare law.

If they keep getting people’s health insurance cancelled, maybe they could slow spending even more! Yay!
I thought consumer spending was good for the economy? Except when it’s on health care-related items?
Maybe CMS can issue regulations banning dental floss. If we can get dental floss off the shelves, we can lower health spending some more. And continue on with more bans.

True that. If someone was receiving chemotherapy treatments that cost $100,000 per year, and the doctor now isn't covered under the patient's new, Obamacare-approved insurance policy, that represents a savings of $100,000, doesn't it?
Because there is no healthcare!

When people with their new Obamacare policies realize the amount they will have to pay out of pocket to satisfy deductibles and copays, they will not be consuming healthcare and spending will decline.
However, the new subsidized Medicaid signups will likely be heavy users of the now free services. It may be we will see the lower middle class and middle class using less healthcare due to the high deductibles and copays while the government subsidized poor use more.

Interesting, I was at my Docs friday and his usual filled up waiting room for three physicians was virtually empty.
No doubt one of the first agenda items when congress returns will be a bail out of insurance companies. This must be resisted at all costs.
The only reason for the slow growth in spending is no one can get healthcare or even see a Dr. all because of Ocare.
OTOH, maybe it isn't. Surgeons not getting approvals, people giving up on ERs...

The real question should be if anything has been done to address systematic problems that lead to high health care costs. These include price-fixing, excessive litigation and restricted markets, and the answer is no.
Health care spending is decreasing mostly due to the fact that the US is still in a recession and people have less money to spend on anything. This reminds me of all the boasting about the growth in GDP, which is largely being fueled by the Fed’s Quantitative Easing (money printing.)

Yeah, because millions have lost theirs.
I don’t have a doc anymore. He went concierge because of Obamacare. So now I have insurance but no doctor. He is one of 2 doctors in an office so I am hoping they replace him. If not I have to go doc shopping.

This is simple:
The very HIGH deductibles and new higher co-pays for each person under Obamacare means that Government/insurance money doesn’t kick in for quite some time.
Therefore, the government/insurance company isn’t putting out money until all of these VERY HIGH deductibles/co-pays are met.
Most people may never meet their deductible limit and therefore, the premiums they are paying for insurance are pure gravy to Obamacare & the insurance companies.
