Skip to comments.Harry Reid blasts Tea Party 'craziness' in GOP ("Things have gotten way out of whack")
Posted on 01/05/2014 3:06:20 PM PST by Libloather
"We cannot have a country that's paralyzed because of a group of people -- the group of people who are the Tea Party-driven Republicans in Congress, not Republicans," Reid said. "I'm not here to badmouth Republicans around the country. I get a lot of support from Republicans in Nevada, and always have had. But they're mainstream Republicans. They're not driven by this craziness that we have in America today."
Schieffer sounded astonished by what Reid was saying, and it was probably the first big headline of 2014 from a Sunday morning show. Schieffer pressed to know more about Reid's thinking on filibusters. The Nevada Democrat explained why he was holding out the ban as a possibility.
"I think everyone should understand that the country cannot continue on the road that it's on," Reid said. "You cannot have when you have vacancies in the judiciary as we've had, D.C. circuits, some say it's more important in the Supreme Court, but it's at least the second most important. They said, 'We're not going to fill these spots because we don't want to.' You can't. See, that's not the way we legislate."

“I’m not here to badmouth Republicans around the country.”
Um, yes you are.
“I get a lot of support from Republicans in Nevada, and always have had.”
Translation: I’ll do favors for anyone who has enough cash to contribute to my campaign coffers.
Go away, you creepy cryptkeeper.
This tactic smells of desperation...but I’ve been wrong before.
Hey Harry, you should do yourself a favor and check out the Marxist Commie whack jobs in your OWN party before you look at other people..oh wait, Harry thinks that Commie Marxist whackos are the “normal” people
It is time to make Dingy Harry RETIRED.
Mitch the Bitch must not have given him his normal Sunday hummer this week.
Dingy Harry has been way out of whack, probably since birth.
Yo, Pinky Reid, are we to believe that lying, commie crooks like you are now the standard of sanity?
Harry hates someone throwing a curve ball to his communist agenda.Get use to it Harry!
Harry Reid sounds like Bonehead Boohnior.
Yeah, shame on Americans who want limited, Constitutional government, and politicians who uphold the law instead of ignore it.
Good old get-rich-in-office Harry bellering when normal-thinking people don’t adopt his perverted line of socialistic illogic.
Where’s the gun of the guy in the yellow shirt? How did he end up disarmed?

I don’t care what Reid says. What upsets me is the RINO GOPers that are saying the same thing.
I can remember when supporting the constitution and defending freedom against these corrupt communist bastards was a good thing. Patriotic, not crazy. Things have definitely gone downhill in America ever since the communists killed JFK and took over our government. Obama, Reid, Pelosi, et al, godless commies to the core.
Sigh . . . And to think sue lowden would have beaten that guy. But noooooooo, we had to have batty sharron angle.
Those who support the Constitution are the crazies? But those who want pure socialism/communism, like Elizabeth Warren are main stream? Yup, that is about right for Reid. What Reid wants is the old Repubs back. Those who continually “compromise” by giving the dems what they want — or at least 90% of what they want without getting anything or much of what conservatives want.
Harry Reid should be in prison in Nevada.
Will someone please punch this little jackass in the mouth ? Thank you.
I despise and loathe this runty little crook. I dream about this skunk having to face a court.
Those are fighting words “Senator”...
You can crap on cop cars, shoot up heroin, and have rape tents in public parks but Hairy Roid will be damned if you think you will diminish the power of DC.
the last time congress wasn’t “paralyzed”, that weazen little bastard stole everyone’s health care.
Harry Reid is certainly an authority on craziness.
then laughing almost uncontrollably he said " Did I just say legislate, I can't believe I said that, dicktate not legislate. We dicktate!
Harry trying to stir up the crazies at the IRS again for the 2014 election ,I see
Reid is dedicated to the advancement of the Nanny State.
That makes him an enemy of Liberty.
I believe you can be a bit more specific than that...
Well...EXCUUUUUUSE ME for wanting a rule of law, following the Constitution and being honest. (all of which are against what this cretin reid stands for)
I wonder how many filibusters there were when Harry Reid was the Senate MINORITY leader? Weren’t the republicans talking about the nuclear option back then, because the democrats wouldn’t let anything come to the floor? Harry Reid has no principles (other than winning at any cost)...
Void the bowels of Washington, D.C. 2014 - 2016
Don't keep 'em if they smell.
"Nanny State" connotes a concern for the welfare of the "little people".
Do you really believe that is what is motivating Reid and the Democrats? Or is it their thirst for absolute totalitarian power?
Didn't mean to insult you. Simply intended to reinforce your point. If that requires an apology, I apologize.
To Harry Reid, there is no such thing as a socialist, or Marxist, or union thug, that is even remotely “whacko”, because EVERYTHING done in the name of establishing the authoritarian state is absolutely rational. It is only irrational to RESIST these efforts.
Which is where it comes to the unfortunate choice of words that the Senator from the neighboring state, Arizona, John McCain, also happened to use the term, slightly altered, as “Whacko birds” to describe the T.E;A. party people. McCain is really so much more like his “good friends” on the other side of the aisle, it is a surprise he had not already pulled a “Jim Jeffords” or a “Lincoln Chafee” party switch to independent, or at a somewhat greater extreme, done a full crossover like Charley Crist in Florida.
The Republican party may think of itself as a “big tent” party, but the tent is not THAT big. Boundaries, and respect for them, would be welcome at this point.
“Back to the fields, serfs! Your lords know what’s best for you scum!”
Meanwhile, the Democrat Party has been taken over by the radical left.
I really supported the Tea Party. Went to the original rally and helped make signs. All I saw were wonderful Americans that were fed up with big gov’t tyranny. . . But now that Harry Reid has criticized them, I don’t know if I can support them anymore. I don’t want to invite the ire of a bigtime politician from Nevada.
All I need to know about Dirty Harry I learned from the film “Casino”,an absolutely true story about the Mob’s control of Vegas in the 80’s.The character “Senator”,played by Dick Smothers of The Smothers Brothers,is,in fact,Dirty Harry, who was the head of the Nevada Gaming Commission while the events depicted in the film were occurring.”Slimy” and “corrupt” doesn’t *begin* to describe Dirty Harry during that period.
It’s feeding time in Korea...
“Harry Reid should be in prison in Nevada.”
The Bush Justice Department was too busy eating its own — Scooter Libby and John Abramoff. No time to look at Harry Reid’s land deals and organized crime connections.
liar! he doesn’t get ANY support
from so-called Republicans...
this guy hijacks the senate and the tea party is out of whack?
the guy who screamed about an 11 trillion dollar deficit as irrespnsiblke but says we have to keep spending past 17 trillion or THAT will be irresponsible?
libs dong their best to make tea party the most hated Goldstein. /1984
Hey, Hairy, you’ve got it all wrong. The GOP elite is on your side. Don’t criticize them. They’re trying to clean things up for you.
