Harry Reid blasts Tea Party 'craziness' in GOP ("Things have gotten way out of whack")
Orlando Sentinel ^ | 1/05/14 | Hal Boedeker

**SNIP**

"We cannot have a country that's paralyzed because of a group of people -- the group of people who are the Tea Party-driven Republicans in Congress, not Republicans," Reid said. "I'm not here to badmouth Republicans around the country. I get a lot of support from Republicans in Nevada, and always have had. But they're mainstream Republicans. They're not driven by this craziness that we have in America today."

Schieffer sounded astonished by what Reid was saying, and it was probably the first big headline of 2014 from a Sunday morning show. Schieffer pressed to know more about Reid's thinking on filibusters. The Nevada Democrat explained why he was holding out the ban as a possibility.

"I think everyone should understand that the country cannot continue on the road that it's on," Reid said. "You cannot have when you have vacancies in the judiciary as we've had, D.C. circuits, some say it's more important in the Supreme Court, but it's at least the second most important. They said, 'We're not going to fill these spots because we don't want to.' You can't. See, that's not the way we legislate."

Those who support the Constitution are the crazies? But those who want pure socialism/communism, like Elizabeth Warren are main stream? Yup, that is about right for Reid. What Reid wants is the old Repubs back. Those who continually “compromise” by giving the dems what they want — or at least 90% of what they want without getting anything or much of what conservatives want.

Reid is dedicated to the advancement of the Nanny State.

That makes him an enemy of Liberty.

Reid is dedicated to the advancement of the Nanny State.

I believe you can be a bit more specific than that...

Reid is dedicated to the advancement of the Totalitarian State.

I wonder how many filibusters there were when Harry Reid was the Senate MINORITY leader? Weren’t the republicans talking about the nuclear option back then, because the democrats wouldn’t let anything come to the floor? Harry Reid has no principles (other than winning at any cost)...

Well...EXCUUUUUUSE ME for wanting a rule of law, following the Constitution and being honest.

"Nanny State" connotes a concern for the welfare of the "little people".

Do you really believe that is what is motivating Reid and the Democrats? Or is it their thirst for absolute totalitarian power?

Didn't mean to insult you. Simply intended to reinforce your point. If that requires an apology, I apologize.

To Harry Reid, there is no such thing as a socialist, or Marxist, or union thug, that is even remotely “whacko”, because EVERYTHING done in the name of establishing the authoritarian state is absolutely rational. It is only irrational to RESIST these efforts.

Which is where it comes to the unfortunate choice of words that the Senator from the neighboring state, Arizona, John McCain, also happened to use the term, slightly altered, as “Whacko birds” to describe the T.E;A. party people. McCain is really so much more like his “good friends” on the other side of the aisle, it is a surprise he had not already pulled a “Jim Jeffords” or a “Lincoln Chafee” party switch to independent, or at a somewhat greater extreme, done a full crossover like Charley Crist in Florida.

The Republican party may think of itself as a “big tent” party, but the tent is not THAT big. Boundaries, and respect for them, would be welcome at this point.
