Republicans are open to all things that the Democrats propose as long as the Media supports them so...just how are the Republicans different from the Democrats? Beats me!

How about rather than unemployment, Boehner works on bringing back American jobs?

Hmm?

Where’s that money coming from?

Boehner has said something has to be cut somewhere else if Pelosi wants to do it.

Sounds reasonable. This story seems to be twisting things.

Well, if by “bringing back American jobs”, you mean raising tariffs on foreign goods, that won’t make it happen.

I’m just saying.

Boehner needs to get on the side of working Americans.

So likewise, should you. Bring back American jobs.

You know, John, giving in to every one of the whackiest liberal demands JUST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH.

You need to SHOW INITIATIVE!

Toss in a complete gun ban, and a seizure of all American real estate in private hands, and maybe Obama WON'T release your records.

But you better get PROACTIVE, bubula, or it's to NBC with your documents!

Unemployment benefits are essentially a mandatory insurance policy your employer and the employee are forced to pay on your behalf. You can’t opt out. So while you are employed this is in effect coming out of YOUR paycheck.
The correct way to handle unemployment is either:
- make the coverage optional so that the employer can pay more money up front to the employee.
- Pay out all benefits in one lump sum just like any other insurance settlement with a valid claim on a loss.
If paid in a lump sum most people would have incentive to find work immediately.

Except in one or two states, unemployment insurance is paid for by a tax on employers, not employees. I worked at two different state’s unemployment offices for a total of about 17 years.

I don’t think we have an opposition party at the moment

GOP always take the lazy route out. Instead of trying to argue and educate American public about why something is bad policy

Yep. They have no interest at all in doing the heavy lifting required to be an engaged opposition party to the Dem agenda.
