When I’m convinced that the US is enforcing its immigration laws for 3-5 years, I might (MIGHT!!!) consider Amnesty for the illegal immigrants. Anything less than that is a surrender to an invading army of Democrat voters. Aren’t Senators (Democrats included) supposed to be all about what’s best for America? Geeze this country got weird somehow. Insisting that the government live within its means is now ‘Radical’, enforcing laws already on the books is mean spirited, and being aagainst Obamacare is racists?......Uhgggg, I need a drink just thinking about the pickle we’re in!!!

Yesterday I attended the local township Republican meeting in which our Congressman, Pete Roskam (IL-9) spoke and took questions for about 20 minutes. For those who don’t know, Pete is the Deputy Whip of the House, so he is right up there in leadership.
The question of amnesty came up and he responded any amnesty bill is dead in the Senate and the House will not move on anything until the border is secured. He added there must be verifiable evidence the border is secured first even if it takes years to do so. He was quite emphatic about that. So we’ll see.
By the way, also in attendance was a candidate to run against Durbin. Young, West Point grad, former Army Ranger, married with three teenagers. A solid guy. He is also a risk consultant in healthcare. His name is Doug Truax. And for you ladies, he is really good looking. He’s not going to be afraid of the slime Durbin will throw at him.
I don’t think it’ll happen either. I think the Republicans will keep saying “We’re open to it” while Obamacare continues to crater. I’d love for them to blue-slip it, but they’ll sit on it until primaries are over. If the TEA Party destroys during primaries, it’s dead.
When you reward something, you get more of it. Rewarding 11 to 20 million lawbreakers who can then sponsor tens of millions of their relatives thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen.
Why would any sane person consider amnesty as a possibility? We had a one time amnesty in 1986. The proponents said this would never happen again and that our illegal immigration problem would be solved. The USG estimated that one million would apply, but the true number turned out to be 2.7 million. So is the USG estimate of 11 million illegal aliens valid or are the numbers far higher?

“The ne/xt day after we pass it, you know we’re not going to be satisfied, we’re going to come back,” he said. “We’re going to have a civil rights act, we’re going to have a voting rights act… Nobody is leaving this fight once we conclude this first chapter,” he said.
"Hopefully, in 30 years, [we] can bring immigrants… from all over the world,” Gutierrez said.
"The secretary (of homeland security) may not grant registered provisional immigrant status to an alien under this section unless the alien fully discloses to the secretary all the names and Social Security account numbers that the alien has ever used to obtain employment in the United States," said Grassley's amendment.
Grassley's amendment would not have prohibited illegal aliens from being converted into legal aliens just because they had used names and Social Security numbers that did not belong to them. It would only have required that the illegal aliens make the names and numbers they used known to DHS before they could be granted the right to legally live in the United States.
Grassley said, "Congress should not thumb its nose at the millions of Americans who are victims of identity theft, often perpetrated by an undocumented person who steals Social Security numbers to get jobs, govt benefits, driver's licenses and more. This amendment will simply require the person applying for RPI status to disclose any previously used Social Security numbers," said Grassley. "It's the first step to helping clean up the mess that's been created for the victim of identity theft. The amendment also authorizes certain federal agencies, upon receipt of this information, to notify individuals who were the victims."

I just don't see how, when you've lived here 10 years, and you've had many different identities, many different numbers, you're going to remember them all," said Schumer.
