A Rhode Island man was arrested this afternoon in connection with the death of a 26-year-old Fall River man early this morning, according to the Bristol district attorneys office.
William Tate, 34, of East Providence, R.I., was charged in the killing of David Rodriguez, 26, who was found near a loading dock outside the Ships Cove Apartment complex at 130 Canal St., where he lived, around 1 a.m., according to a statement from the district attorneys office. Tate was taken to St. Annes Hospital in Fall River, where he was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, according to the statement.
Tate was arrested this afternoon on Point Street in East Providence and charged in Massachusetts with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition, according to the district attorneys office. He was also charged in Rhode Island as being a fugitive from justice.
Rodriguez will be arraigned on the fugitive-from-justice charge Monday morning in Providence District Court. The date of his arraignment on the Massachusetts charges is pending his decision on whether to waive rendition.
Fall River police, Massachusetts State Police detectives, East Providence police, and prosecutors from the district attorneys homicide unit are investigating the death.

Yes, it is that easy..nobody’s name is Smith or Jones.
Not terribly written. I didnt review for typos and grammatical errors. What is so bad about it?
The article states “William Tate, 34, of East Providence, R.I., was charged in the killing of David Rodriguez”
Then “Tate was taken to St. Annes Hospital in Fall River, where he was pronounced dead.”
Then “Tate was arrested this afternoon...”
Then “Rodriguez will be arraigned on the fugitive-from-justice charge Monday morning”.
then says he’s dead and Rodriguez, whom they said is murdered and dead will be arraigned.!
Oh. I get it. The murder victim is to be arraigned. Yea. Pretty bad.
As newspapers continue to lose money, they retain less skilled staff and lose seasoned reporters.
Don’t worry, they’ll be out of business soon.
My suggestion is to send an email to the reporter and mock them mercilessly.
The article names Tate as the murderer, Rodgriguez is murdered.
Then says Tate is dead, Rodriguez is to be arraigned!
All news people should have to watch the Film “Deadline USA”.
They have edited it, but not enough. Still says:
“Tate was taken to St. Annes Hospital in Fall River, where he was pronounced dead. “
They must be smokin’ the good stuff in Beantown.
From the people who think to tell us how to vote...
