Liz Cheney Dropping Out of Primary
CNN Email

Posted on 01/05/2014 8:40:51 PM PST by BulletBobCo

First on CNN: Liz Cheney, whose bid to unseat Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi sparked a round of warfare in the Republican Party and even within her own family, is dropping out of the Senate primary, sources told CNN's John King.

Cheney, the eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, began telling associates of her decision over the weekend and could make an announcement about the race as early as Monday.

instead of going after a Democrat, she went after a Republican with a 90-plus conservative voting record. Total ego trip by an entitled aristocrat. Glad she was shamed out of the race before she diverted too much GOP campaign money from the effort to beat Democrat incumbents.

Quite apart from the merits of Liz Cheney vs. Mike Enzi, this is a setback for insurgent in the Republican Party trying to oust the establishment

Nonsense. I supported Enzi. CHENEY is the establishment, and a RINO at that.

I along with Mark Levin supported Liz Cheney

I love Mark Levin, but he was dead wrong with this endorsement, as he was (times 1000) with his insane Orrin Hatch endorsement, which he later regretted (but should have known better to begin with)

Linda Graham has about a 90% rating too. Do you want him back?

I think that Liz Cheney went to Wyoming to take a Senate seat where she could promote libertarian social liberalism in the GOP, while sounding tough and right wing (as she does to the unsuspecting), to serve the GOP rinos as a counterbalance to the tea party warrior Sarah Palin, and other truly conservative tea party women.

I really don’t understand how the names Bush and Cheney still carry cache with Republicans. When they left office we were in the biggest economic mess since the Great Depression, The Repubican Party in the 30s and 40s was smart enough not to keep nominating relatives of Herbert Hoover. Whey does today’s GOP want to nominate relatives of Bush and Cheney?

I do understand where you are coming from. I didn’t follow this ditz because I knew she would sell us out every chance she got.

Is it too late for someone that is level-headed to take her place?

“Never made sense for her to run for this particular office. Enzi is pretty conservative.”

Me either. I am glad she is dropping out. Maybe down the road she will have her chance.

I did not support Hatch who was promising to repent and be conservative. However, the basis for supporting Cheney was not that she was manifestly more conservative than Enzi, but that she would at least shake things up. She would exploit a safe Senate seat against the status quo-at least that was her promise. Whether we accept her promise on face value or not, no such promise or realistic hope was forthcoming from Enzi.

Those of us who support reformation of the Republican Party need bomb throwers. We need Newt Gingrichs not Mike Enzis.

Our choice was not Enzi, Cheney or some unknown third party, our choice was limited to Enzi or Cheney. I did not support Cheney on the basis of her conservative bona fides which were arguably more or arguably less than Senator Enzi's, but on her campaigning to shake things up.

Agree.
But her entry probably scared other real conservatives from entering
the primary and her quitting has ensured Enzi will survive.

Once again, I get what you’re saying. The problem with these folks is that we trade off one Leftist idiot to get one Leftist idiot. Maybe I’m wrong. I just don’t think this woman would be in our camp on much.

I think that is about what his rating is.
The ratings are very misleading, though.
His vote for the coming Amnesty will not be reflected in his ratings,
as it is only one vote. The rating does not “weigh” the impact of a vote
on a major issue such as amnesty or bailouts, etc.

She’d have “raised some hell” on behalf the party establishment. The only thing “wrong” with Enzi was that he was in the little princesses precious little way to the halls of power.

Levin backed her cause he’s in bed with the neocon Cheneys and company. It’s sad so many people treat his endorsement like the mark of Christ.

Now she quits to head off an embarrassingly large defeat because the good people of Wyoming aren’t as dumb as she thought they were. I say HAHA.
