Posted on 01/06/2014 10:23:26 AM PST by MikeyB806
Left-leaning NCR (National Catholic Reporter, not to be confused with the conservative National Catholic Register) decided to shut down comments on its site this morning due to a deluge of comments on posts about homosexuality that it deemed to be "malicious" and "abusive."
Catholicism teaches that homosexuality is not a sin, but that homosexual acts are. Nonetheless, homosexual activists attack the Church in the media and elsewhere as being anti-homosexual. The objectional comments that caused NCR to shut down commenting called attention to that very distinction. Post topics particularly at issue were about the Boy Scouts' policy on homosexuality, an LGBT minor offered at a Catholic university, and the death of a priest who promoted homosexual marriage.
Perhaps it was the recent Duck Dynasty story that gave voice to the previously silent posters, calling attention to the acts of sodomy that homosexuals adopt as their identity and which attention homosexuals would rather not be mentioned. Whatever the case, the comments weren't so much derogatory as they were sexually graphic in nature, and that is what, ironically, the editorial staff apparently found disgusting and vile.
my family members used to work for this rag
Censorship, the left’s favorite tool
homosexual acts are pretty gross
The ‘oh so open minded’ appear to be only open-minded about their own opinions...
“Catholicism teaches that homosexuality is not a sin, but that homosexual acts are”
Why do you hate Dennis Coday?
Leftist ideology is based on the idea that it is mainstream. When people disagree with it, it leaves readers with the mistaken notion that people disagree with it.
On Facebook, I call it the “Echo Chamber Syndrome”. People post political stuff and then are insulted because people disagree with them. As if they might be wrong!!
Any record of what the comments were?
I disagree - it is the basis of “love the sinner, hate the sin”. Homosexuality - the same-sex attraction - is temptation.
Homosexual acts are succumbing to temptation.
It is not a sin to be tempted - otherwise there would never be redemption.
Whats sadly ironic is the homosexual act that most find disgusting is probably the lease offensive act many of these people commit on a daily basis.
Look at what they do in their pride parades for a slightly closer view. Even that is limited to what they can get by with in public.
That is hilarious!
Sinners hate being called sinners, especially if they are haters of God. So they lash out on the righteous. They did this in the time of Noah, the time of Abraham, the time of Jacob, the time of Moses, the time of David, the time of the Prophets and the time of Jesus. Jesus said this would happen and it is happening.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Probably along the lines of “tab A in slot B, as opposed to slot A” and “improper male-to-male connectors with only modified receptors”. Use your imagination.
In the sermon on the mount, Jesus disagrees with you.
27 You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery. 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
That’s pretty clear. And the door is left wide open to redemption. I doubt Jesus only meant heterosexual lust.
If every straight person refused to be intimidated by the gaystapo, we’d drive these perverts and accidents of nature back into the closet where they belong.
Christ did not say that attraction to women was a sin.
He said that committing acts based on that attraction - even in the mind - was a sin.
Feeling attracted to a person/gender isn’t inherently sinful.
Acting out - including fantasizing - is.
Again, if BEING TEMPTED is a sin, no human can ever be saved - because Christ himself was tempted, and yet he never sinned.
my family members are Democrat fools
somehow I am the only conservative out of the bunch
this refers to my biological family that I had the misfortune to grow up in
can’t stand them
All comments on the entire site have been hidden. The moderator had blocked some of the more graphic replies (apparently “feces” is a no-no), and some of the personal attacks were deleted within the threads.
I think the problem is that the comments that they took issue with were based on Catholic teaching; teaching that they don’t like very much, but to remain as a credible media source they had no choice but to publish.
