Not buying it. The most recent year for which FBI crime stats are available includes non-white Latinos as whites. Even so, the numbers don't come anywhere close between black and white. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-43#disablemobile

It isn’t a racial issue, it is an issue of culture.

Probably not the “dream” MLK was thinking of.

It’s obvious we are losing the war on black crime so now is the time to legalize it.

I was arrested for a prank, a run-in with a bad cop, and in a piss skirmish at Mardi Gras (I was sticking up for a friend peeing at 2am because there were no bathrooms), all in my late teens early 20s. I don’t know the percentage of middle class whites from good homes and private schools that have done as I have, so I don’t know what to make of this general statistic. I would proceed with caution.

What demographics are included in the white sample (Hispanic Whites etc?) Because if it the old defninition of white then there has been quite a statistical jump in the last 5 years? Are almost half of young men getting arrested because everything is illegal now or what?

from the comments section:

There appears to be something bogus on the face about either this study or the way the figures are being reported. I have been looking at criminal justice data for almost 30 years and the figures reported here 8 to 10 times figures I have seen anywhere else. In the jurisdiction I reside, about 1.5% of people are currently involved in the criminal justice system. I have seen figures between 3% to 5% as the percentage of people that will EVER be involved in the system. Our local jail system currently books about 45,000 people per year out of a population of 4 million. That means about 1% of people are getting arrested in a given year and my county is considered to have one of the highest incarceration rates in the United States. If about 1/3 of people (the number including females) are being arrested by age 23, you would expect an arrest rate closer to 5% per year and a total number of people ever involved in the system of closer to 30%.

wait, what ? more whites get arrested than blacks ?

so, if a guy gets arrested at 18, then again at 23, is he counted twice ?

If the police were more efficient and effective, probably a much higher percentage would have been arrested.

No matter what the numbers (even these that are highly suspect and provide no LOGICAL conclusion for lack of data), they will continue to rise because every aspect of our behaviors are increasingly criminalized.

Quoting the Heritage Foundation, “too many criminal offenses today are malum prohibitum offenses—that is, they criminalize conduct that is morally innocuous—and do not contain an adequate mens rea (criminal-intent) element. In order to limit the growth of laws criminalizing morally innocuous conduct—a development that, in turn, would curb overcriminalization—the U.S. legal community would be well-served to explore the concept of retribution and the manner in which it provides an account of how punishing those convicted of criminal offenses is morally justified. Punishment without a firm basis in retribution is unjust and therefore should be avoided.” http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2012/03/retribution-and-overcriminalization

Unless and until the focus is taken off revenue, overreach of power and reparations (in the broad sense of PC homogenizing/equalizing/fairness of all aspects of society), many formerly law abiding citizens will eventually have an arrest record. Race notwithstanding.

Truly useless and stupid propaganda intended to confuse and deceive.
