Inside the Beltway: Polar vortex fits leftist agenda

By Jennifer Harper

The Washington Times

Monday, January 6, 2014

The word of the day is “polar vortex,” which has inspired several thousand press accounts obsessing over the frigid weather pattern now freezing much of the nation — along with a call of fraud.

“Right on schedule, the media have to come up with a way to make it sound like this is completely unprecedented, because they’ve got to find a way to attach this to the global warming agenda. And they have. It’s called the polar vortex. The dreaded polar vortex,” Rush Limbaugh told his listeners as vortex lore reached epic proportions on Monday.

The term polar vortex has been around for decades and is a legitimate weather phenomena. In fact Joe Bastardi is saying another break is possible in February with even colder weather.

Well, at any rate it WAS a legitimate weather event, before the global-climate-change-at-any-cost crowd got ahold of it.

Just keep calling it “global warming” - it is starting to tweak them.

I saw a CNN news babe say “We don’t call it Global Warming anymore- we call it Climate Change” because it was getting embarassing to talk about global warming in the midst of their conversation about the current cold-snap

I’d love to know the difference between a “polar vortex” and a cold front. I’m no weather expert, but I think it has something to do with the jet stream. Arctic air moves down and then across the USA. It’s called winter.

Of course, "climate change" is a completely meaningless phrase. As long as there are daily variations in our weather there will be climate change. So the conversations about "climate change" are like Seinfeld episodes: They are conversations about nothing.

Polar Vortex “Excuse” Makes Senator Jeanne Shaheen Look Like a Moron

by Steve MacDonald
Snowman

Jan 7, 2014

Jeanne Shaheen’s New Global Warming Induced Voter Base

Warming creates warming. Warming creates cooling. NH Democrat Timmy Horrigan informed us (in comments) that Global Warming Theory predicts more snow (which will come as a surprise to Senator Jeanne Shaheen). And now we’ve got this newly imagined polar vortex thing to explain the cold temperatures that none of those computer models from all those well-funded activists experts, ever predicted.

And another big unexpected side-effect of global warming? Plenty of living space for those polar bears. We’ve got more ice on the poles (both of them, in summer no less) than we can shake an endangered species at. (Any day now we’ll start hearing about how too much habitat will be devastating to the Polar bear Population. Mark my words, it’s coming.)

And of course it hasn’t warmed in 16 years, ancient times compared to Climate scientist Jeanne Shaheen’s catastrophic predictions for New Hampshire circa 2008.

The halcyon days of 2008, when John Lynch was signing RGGI to raise energy rates so they could use the taxes to expand the energy consuming bureaucracy in Concord.

Climate model Jeanne Shaheen strutted down the campaign runway in some of the finest talking points the DNC could dress her with. Those would be the ones where she predicted that Global warming would devastate our tourism economy with less snow, lousy leaf peeping, and dried up maple syrup production.

And she wasn’t alone. NH Democrats, based on the same “theory” continued making a State that is a net exporter of energy by 25% of its power from more expensive, less efficient green providers, wherever they might be. All in the midst of the worst recession in history, on the heels of an “irresponsible” 9.6 trillion dollar deficit caused by unnecessary wars and tax cuts for big oil.

No one ever went broke betting on the stupidity of the American Public. However.....

I *HOPE* that people are intelligent enough to see that "colder temperatures" < > "warmer climate".

People are dumb. Nearing record levels of "dumb", in fact. But I'm marginally confident that they'll be able to figure out that "Record Breaking Arctic Cold" is not the same thing as "Warmer", and will call the GW kooks out for what they are.

Liberals are particularly good at fear mongering and the blame game. These are the key tactics they use to galvanize support for more spending on all manner of government programs that THEY will manage. Funny how all these “crises” always benefit them.

They are also good at organizing and very facile. In my area, they geared up to stop High Voltage Transmission Lines. The proposed route changed away from the previous one, but they had all this organization in place. Instantly, every involved group switched their cause to fracking sand mining. They did not miss a beat.

Not only that: their investigation of the High Voltage Transmission Line placement pointed directly to an EO from zer0 to fast track it. Since “that cannot be right” (sic), their researcher nearly had a nervous breakdown looking for a Walker, Koch, right wing extremist connection. She never found one. She simply stopped discussing it and would only say:”I know it must be Republicans.”

And the Left is also very good at branding their campaigns and quickly identifying “villians”.

When you don’t spend your time doing anything productive there’s plenty of time and energy to pursure bogus causes and disrupt real progress.

These major weather events, among other events, are among the reasons the progressives are truly making war on the older generations. We remember Winters that were just as bad and worse. Because we remember they want us to just “die and get out of the way”. We also remember when there was a lot less government and a lot more freedom.

I lived in the burbs of D.C. when we had back to back 15 inch snows within a week. After the second storm only about 6 inches of our chain-link fence was showing and there was a crust thick enough for us kids to walk around on. We were out of school for over a week and had a field-day playing in the snow.

In the 1970's, when fixing Minuteman missiles in Montana, we had temperatures routinely in the -40 degree range with wind chills in the -90 regions. And, we knew we had it better than Minot or Grand Forks.

Why all the hysteria now?...Agenda.

The question isn't whether the polar vortex is real but why it is suddenly the result of global warming. Joe Bastardi shows 77 and 85 polar vortex slipping south and no one screamed about them being our fault then.

So the media states that Polar vortex causes global cooling AND global warming. Which is it? Or is it both?
