The FBI has released new statistics on NICS background checks showing 2013 gun sales hit a new record. The total number of background checks conducted for gun sales last year add up to 21,093,273, beating the previous 2012 record of 19,592,303 by 1,500,970. Texas conducted the most background checks with 1,633,278. Kentucky came is second with 1,578,331 background checks conducted.
These significant numbers came during a year when Democrats and the White House attempted multiple times to push through new gun control measures. In 2013, President Obama released a number of executive actions on gun control and wasted no time in 2014 doing the same. States that implemented more gun control measures in 2013 saw a spike in gun sales, especially in relation to population. Gun sales in Maryland doubled, going from 136,604 in 2012 to 231,361 in 2013. In 2012, Colorado conducted 414,838 checks, in 2013, there were 514,658. In Connecticut, 237,496 checks were conducted in 2012 and in 2013, 294,338 went through the system. Background checks in New York, home of the S.A.F.E. Act, also went up in 2013.
So who's buying these guns? According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation and NBC news, women are the fastest growing demographic of gun owners.

Buy RGR and ATK stock.
Now why is is that, do you suppose?
The old saying in Africa is that you can tell how close a county is to civil war by the price of an AK-47.
Gun Salesman of the YEAR, yet again!
Background check? What’s that?
“Now why is that, do you suppose?”
Americans inherently know something is way wrong and are arming themselves to the teeth.
Next will be the record sales of Ammo......
Law abiding citizens. This is why there was no corresponding spike in gun crime.
Gun control is kind of like trying to solve drunken driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.
Next??? That already happened. The folks with guns already stocked up.
Waiting for the bloodbath to begin....
With all those guns out there, a crime wave is sure to begin at any moment.
(using my liberal logic | sarcasm)
Is Bama showing off his replacement for the Beretta M 9?
At least he got the drop on the kid.
“This is how I capped Osama”
Imagine the crime wave if law abiding citizens lost their guns...
I sure did my part...I wonder how many of these are multiple sales to the same person?
I was standing shell shocked in the Walmart yesterday when the sales clerk passed by. Whatcha lookin for, honey? She asked, but she didn't wait for me to reply. Something we dont have?
Something odd about ammo these days, at least where I am:
My usual gun shop is no longer selling .38 special hollow points, unless you are buying a gun & buy the rounds THAT DAY.
22LRs are back, finally...prices are down a bit, quantities still limited.
0bama looks to be a low caliber type.
“So who’s buying these guns?”
People who have realized that 8-9 guns just isn’t enough to face whats coming. :-)
“Something odd about ammo these days” Very true statement, guns are selling like Hotcakes. but where is the Ammo??
I have stopped target shooting for now because once its gone its gone at least for now and the prices are getting up there if you can find it.
I hope 2014 will see more Ammo, but with the shutdown of Lead producers in the U.S.A. costs will be a lot higher.
I’m sure many Democrat cong and staffers were heavily invested in firearms mfgr stocks.
Revolt is coming down the road.
I have been predicting revolt for a very long time now.
He is showing his true colors with each new day.
This isn’t going to go well.
What would Michael Collins do?
I rarely see 38 revolvers for sale any more and when I do it is usually one or two way down at the end of the display. I think the caliber is disappearing.
I hope you have been saving all that brass, it is easy and relatively inexpensive to reload and being very low pressure they can be reloaded many times.
Proud to be a part of the 2013 statistic.. also a strong supporter in the 2010, 2011, 2012 and the upcoming 2014 gun sales statistics.
I’m also a proud ammunition supporter.
I am seriously thinking about getting a .380 as a CCW. My BIL took out a feral hog that weighed about 100 lbs with one shot into its left ear. He said .380 ammo is finally getting easier to find. May look at the Gov. Perry Coyote Special, just for kicks.
For some, that caliber combination 38SP/357Mag makes a fun semi-affordable lever action rifle.
Total hoot to shoot. A .357 magnum out of a 16" barrel hits quite nicely if it has to. I will say the feed port is a little skinny for normal-sized fingers but I can live with it.
Is that the Rossi?
The trick is not to just insert the front of the cartridge, then use the next bullet to push it through. Much easier on the fingers. I use an extra to push in the last and stick it back in the box.
My brother has a 44 mag lever gun. Very accurate and very fun to shoot.
Yep. Sweet little piece I ran into at a gunshow when I was looking for something completely different. Raised it to my shoulder and it was love.
90,000,000 checks since Obama has been in the WH.
What an apt name to describe these sons of b!tches.
The original assault rifle.
I bought one for myself this Christmas. I called my brother to tell him about it. He just bought the same, although in a longer barrel. Both in 38Sp/357Mag. Neither of us talked to the other about it before hand.
