BREAK UP: Will California splinter into 6 states? Voters, Congress could soon decide
WATimes ^ | 1/6/14 | Valerie Richardson

There’s nothing like a guy with a few million bucks to lend instant credibility to a previously penny-ante movement to split up the state of California.

Venture capitalist Tim Draper of Silicon Valley has filed paperwork for a November ballot measure that would divide California into six states, calling the Golden State as presently constituted “too big and bloated.”

Not all 6 would be liberal. Depending on how they split it up, it could mean about 4-6 new Rats and 2-4 new Pubs.

If the Washington Times keeps up promoting nulification and separation they’ll soon become irrelevant. And their writers dismissed as “conservative” nutcases.

That would add 10 EC votes to the total and not all an automatic 55 to the Rats.

We’re getting closer to Obama’s estimate of 57 states.

"The only way to make this to work for us would be to split Lassen and Modoc counties into five states and let the rest of California remain California."

Tehama, Shasta, Trinity, Plumas, Placer, Butte and Siskiyou counties would be right in there with Modoc and Lassen counties. There is much more Timber revenue in those counties than anywhere else in this state.

Factor in the fact that a very large part of the water used by the northern cities originates in the north state. All that is left to do is to figure out how much we can charge per drop.

All of the north state counties are solid red with the exception of Eureka. If we had a state of Jefferson that included all counties north of Sacramento it would be a deep red state. With our natural resources, agriculture, timber and mining industries, mountain recreation, and without the high unemployment and negative social issues of the big cities, we would be in great financial shape.

I guess you all know what I want for my birthday and Christmas.

Most of my family lives in Butte County. Am I correct in that they would fall within the prospective state of Jefferson?

It won’t happen. I was born and raised out there. Originally there have been plans to divide the state at the Tehacchappi Mountians. Heck, gang bangers already do this with “norte” and “sud” and you better not get caught in wrong territory.
So my money is on it not happening.
BTW I would not move back there regardless of what they decide to do.

Trust me - if it’s coming from a VC, it’s hyperRat all the way, no matter what it seems to look like.

RE: “Non-white Americans are strongly Democrat.”

Exactly, they vote 80% Democrat in California.

And, their voter participation goes up every year, thanks to a superbly organized Democrat Party.

In 2012, in California, Blacks and Asians turned out to vote in numbers that equal or exceed their share of the population.

It appears that Hispanic turn out in California is very low, but it's hard to be sure since the Census Bureau counts Green Card and illegal Hispanics as state residents, too, and, theoretically, they are not allowed to vote.

Why can’t we divide the entire country into Red America and Blue city states...

Let's get really creative and find a way to let people choose whether to live in Red or Blue America without having to relocate, kind of like the way they can choose their electricity provider?

One good thing will come out of it. A leftist will waste his money on this instead of funding more leftists for office.

I can’t see a conservative rural area accepting being gerrymandered to an urban liberal area. They have been screwed that way for too long already.

As I understand it the Proposed State of Jefferson includes Del Norte, Siskiyou, and Modoc counties. Way back in the 40s there was a movement to split from Calif and join with three counties splitting from Oregon.

If a split did happen I'd move to Siskiyou in a hurry as would a lot of people. The problem [then] would be that tons of libs would move there to get out of the messes they created in other places and set about ruining everything right away.

Is any part of California becoming more Republican?

California is unwinnable mainly because of the white who left rather than the illegals. I think the split amongst whites is 50-50 Democrat Republican.

In Arizona it is 2/3 of whites voting GOP and in Texas it is 80% voting GOP.

Splitting California roughly along the San Andreas Fault

I'd vote for that!

“Hope not, then that would create at least 10 new liberal senators.”

If you believe that, you simply know nothing about the demographics in California!!
