(CNN) -- Dennis Rodman defended his visit to North Korea with a team of fellow former NBA players in a combative exchange Tuesday, saying the trip was a "great idea for the world."
In an exclusive interview with Chris Cuomo of CNN's "New Day," Rodman reacted angrily when pressed on whether the group should have traveled there, given recent events in the secretive country.
The trip takes place weeks after North Korea announced the purge and execution of leader Kim Jong Un's once-powerful uncle.
The other former NBA players are due to play Wednesday in a basketball game on Kim's 31st birthday. Photos: Dennis Rodman in N. Korea Photos: Dennis Rodman in N. Korea Cuomo: Rodman isn't on cultural exchange Rodman to CNN: I don't give a s*** Rodman defiant in odd N. Korea defense
"I love my friend," Rodman said in a reference to Kim during an interview carried out from Pyongyang. "This is my friend."

See my vanity post. My opinion, the State Dept is behind this, for nefarious reasons.
He’s frigging on TV basically defending that nut ball king jong un. “He’s my friend”, this man has no loyalty to any country or other but himself and money.
Rodman is a piece of filth.
If you travel into North Korea, you pretty much deserve whatever happens. That applies to Kenneth Bae also. He had to have known the risks.
This generations Jane Fonda .....
LOLOLOL...damn that pic is truly F up. And this clown is in the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame.
I’m waiting for Obama to invite him to the White House and give him a medal.
Clip w/ evidence of his brain damage.
GayMuzzie can’t do the SOTU w/o any good new at all, so Rodman’s antics are cammo prep for the release of Kenneth Bae.
But the real reason for the release is US cash or some hidden diplomatic concession.
No proof at all, sure, but what does YOUR GUT tell you.
Fits the GayMuzzie penchant for secret treachery perfectly.
STAY TUNED FOR THE “BIG SURPRISE” BEFORE THE S.O.T.U....!
He is probably not Obama evil but he is close enough.
“This is so great...! That lovable nut Rodman sprung Kenneth Bae, wow...!”
Yeah, suuuure...! They’ll SAY it was Rodman and fire off the fireworks, but YOU will know better:
Money, food, or secret US “understanding” of some impending nuke test.
This is PREP WORK for the sell-out of “the dastardly greedy South Korean industrialists”.
Im waiting for Obama to invite him to the White House and give him a medal.

One of two things will happen.
He will ‘train’ the NK Olympic basketball team and when they lose, he will be given the same treatment as Kim’s BIL.
BO will think he is doing a great job and oust Jf’nKerry and replace him as SOS with Rodman...
Looks like Ruby Rhod from the movie “The Fifth Element”.
A few of the players that went to NK w/ him are speaking out, with regrets. WTH did they think was going to happen?
C.Smith: **”The way some of the statements and things that Dennis has said has tainted our efforts,” Smith said. “Dennis is a great guy, but how he articulates what goes on - he gets emotional and he says things that he’ll apologise for later.”**
Hussein is evil in a cunning, calculating way....DR is just b@tsh!t crazy.
That said, this is highly disrespectful at so many levels. There were ~33,686 American combat deaths in the Korean war, and over 120,000 dead or wounded. In addition to the fact that an American is being held there now, and they are pushing their nuclear program to become a bigger world threat.
Weirdos made this weirdo rich and famous. And there are many others like him. Sad but true. Who, in their right mind, would want their son to grow up like this piece of trash?
Lettuce hope that the 120 North Korean canines are still hungry (6 apparatchiks surely couldn’t of been enough, Shirley), and that they don’t object to eating dark meat with some artificial coloring.
Dang, that dude is beyond help and he doesn’t care. The alcohol induced dementia is in control..
Thanks for the clip, Daffynition.
