Former Sen. Richard Lugar, a Republican, has given the maximum amount of money allowed under federal campaign finance laws to a candidate who hopes to help Democrats retain the Senate in the 2014 election.
Michelle Nunn used the $5,000 donation to appeal to conservative Georgia voters. "I am immensely honored and grateful for Senator Lugar's generous support in this race," she said. "Both in the Senate and in the international community, Senator Lugar's collaborative approach made us safer and moved our country forward. We need more leaders like Senator Lugar -- not less, and I will strive to follow this legacy in the U.S. Senate."
The Lugar-backed 19th Star PAC gave Nunn $5,000, the most that a PAC can give an individual candidate.....
After 36 years, Lugar lost his Senate seat from Indiana in 2010 when State Treasurer Richard Mourdock defeated him in the Republican primary by arguing that he was too moderate.

Sour grapes. Obama loving idiot.
“Time to make new party!”

Wow, how easily we can be discouraged and defeated! A mere $5,000 donation by a liberal PAC to a Democrat in a red state and “we’re done”.
I guess it’s too much to ask that we work to have a Tea Party candidate win the Republican nomination for Senate in Georgia and defeat the Democrat? You know...similar to what we did in Texas to end up with Ted Cruz being Senator instead of a RINO or Democrat.
I’m constantly amazed at the weaklings and defeatists “amongst” us.
Now tell me again how much clout the Tea Party has or not.
The media claims the Tea Party to be DOA but day after day I’m hearing more and more about them. Perhaps the ground swell has begun as people are sick of the do nothing republicans and are seeking a light at the end of the tunnel.
It would be hard to find a bigger ego in the US Senate while he was there.
Too bad Mourdock turned out to be an idiot.
Pretty close to it.
Even if you have no love for the Republican Party, Inc., until their is an approaching viable alternative, it is stupid not to make the most of primary voting opportunity to promote those candidates you do support.
All I can say is “See?” Never was conservative, just like the rest of the GOPe.
I agree. We MUST do all we can to put Tea Party types into office and bump the GOPe out. The GOP can be made into what its platform is.
All those in favor of term limits, clap your hands... .

{ear-damaging roar of approval}
Exactly. If more had left the R party Lugar would not have been "primaried".
$5,000 isn’t going to push Michelle Nunn over the top. That senate seat is going to a conservative republican. Hopefully Dr. Paul Broun.
Ping.
We had Lugar nailed for decades and now Lugar provides his very own proof!
Lugar hopes the daughter of his friend is as big of a neocon as him.
