Messages Link Christie's Aides To Bridge Lane Closures (Christie scandal thickens...)
Fox Philadelphia ^ | 1/8/13 | Fox Philadelphia

A top aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is linked through emails and text messages to a seemingly deliberate plan to create traffic gridlock in a town at the base of a major bridge after its mayor refused to endorse Christie for re-election.

"Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," Christie aide Bridget Anne Kelly wrote to David Wildstein, a top political appointee at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the George Washington Bridge connecting New Jersey and New York City, one of the world's busiest spans.

Kelly wrote the email on Aug. 13, about a month before two of three local access lanes to the bridge were diverted, causing hour-long backups in Fort Lee during the first week of school. The message was among a series of emails and texts obtained by The Associated Press and other news outlets Wednesday that are the clearest sign yet that Christie aides were involved in the lane closures.

Christie, a star in the Republican Party who's considered a possible candidate for president in 2016, has denied that the lane closings were punitive and has said his staff was not involved. After the emails were made public Wednesday, he abruptly postponed a scheduled morning event.

If Cristie is the nominee, Hillary has cake walk to the white house. I won't vote for a liberal Republican.

RE :”Say what you wish but the Prestitutes are pulling a John McCain, Mitt Romney on Crispy Creme. They will eviserate him if he wins the nomination. They want a easy target so Hitlary has a cake walk to the White House.”

But the Left is attacking him. Isn't that the sign that he is ‘the one’, because he is ‘a threat’ ??

I have heard this before in the past.

Shouldn't we be begging him to run because of this?

Or need he resign first?

RE :”Conservatism would be better of, because Fat Bastard sure as hell isn’t helping it.”

Maybe he would become more conservative during a 2016 primary like McCain and Romney did.

If Christie was a conservative, he wouldn’t rely on Tony Soprano thug tactics to advance his agenda and this bridge nonsense never would have happened.

Well said! Ronald Reagan never would have done this, and he would have instantly fired anyone who suggested it.

I am NOT okay with what Barack Hussein Obama has done to this country.

But, in your search for that elusive perfect conservative, you’ll manage to find something to complain about. Meanwhile, the united liberals will be attacking YOU, not noting that YOU have attacked the same conservatives they hate.

Yes, let’s hate on everyone, just like we did on 2008 and 2012, no to Romney! McCain! Palin! Christie! Cruz! Bush! Bush! Bush!!!!

I do NOT play this game here where so many of you spend all of your time attacking conservatives. Obama and his regime are a total disaster.

Let’s attack each other. The liberals on DU and the rest of the filthy sites they go to are LOVING it. The vulgar spewing liberals, the same things that defecate on police cars are LOVING it. they’ll manage to back the dem candidate, no matter who it is. But we will remain pure!!!!

No to Romney, McCain, Palin, Bush, Cruz, Christie, Santorum, Ryan or ANYONE else. Right?

This already starting to be a total rerun of 2008 and 2012. The dems will unite, and all of you pure conservatives won’t lift a finger to nominate that pure conservative you see out there (you know, the invisible one) and once the candidate IS elected, you’ll claim a plot by the eeeeeeeeeeeeevil Karl Rove and you’ll proclaim there to be NO difference between our candidate and the dem and you’ll teach the GOP a lesson!!!! You will not only refuse to vote, but you will do you best to convince all of your fellow conservatives to do the same.

yeah. Been there, done that. I’ve seen the result.

pa lost because the majority of the state is located within the poverty stricken liberal areas of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia who are dumb, like many who post here. Waiting for more handouts, like many who post here.

Oh, also lost because of the fake conservatives here trashing Santorum.

You weren’t one of those, were you?

Be gone? Are you threatening me? Cool! Very conservative of you.

I’m not looking for a “perfect conservative.” But I am looking for someone who is not a petty, corrupt jackass of a politician. From everything I’ve seen living in and around NJ, Christie does not fit that bill. He may be as good as NJ can do (not saying much), but he’s not fit for higher office.

I know a bit about New Jersey politics and this is entirely possible. Chicago is the capitol of corruption in this country but NO single state beats New Jersey for thug corrupt politics.

I was involved as an out-of-state lawyer in a court case in NJ a couple of years ago. That was a real eye-opener. I left the case convinced that the corruption you describe is well-entrenched in the judicial system there.

Conservatives will not unite under the Christie banner. However, they also did not unite under any of the Conservative candidates in 2012. Everyone split from everyone else. Because of that a non-Conservative was chosen and we lost. If Conservatives cannot work together in 2014, we will will definitely have a liberal Demoncrat and it could very well be another Clinton.

Nor will I. There is hardly a speck of difference between the two so why bother?

Yeah, but the MSM will be quick to define Christie as a Tea Party Conservative if there’s a major scandal...

Then you failed to do your job in 2008 and 2012. There is no consensus even here on Free Republic as to who would get all of your votes in 2014.

The only thing that remains constant here is the need to trash anyone. Now, at this point, I’m supposed to say that Christie isn’t a conservative. I’m saying nothing of the sort. If you don’t like him, good for you. If someone else likes him, good for them. So, according to others here, you’re to blame for Christie even if you don’t like him? You’re to blame for Obama winning New Jersey and for all of the problems of your state? Of course you’re not.

I’ve been lurking on this website for more years than I can honestly remember. However, in the past few years, I’ve seen such a total deterioration of the conversation. I really think it relates to a breakdown in society, one that we are currently experiencing. People are vulgar. The internet is a race to the bottom. Threats, vulgarities, just overall rudeness has taken over.

The liberals love it. Meanwhile, the circular firing squad on the right continues. So, keep it up, Hillary will love you in 2016. So will DU and all of the other vulgar liberal sites.

On the other hand, if you have that invisible perfect conservative out there, by all means, convince others of his or her perfection. Be ready, of course, to defend each and every vote and comment he or she has said, because afterall, that family photograph might really mean he or she is for complete amnesty! Just be ready to battle your own side.
