It’s been more than a month, but my family hasn’t given up hope and hasn’t stopped looking for my missing cousin, Marizela Perez. Many volunteers across the country have joined us in this search. We can’t thank them enough for their dedication, energy, generosity, expertise, and commitment to finding Marizela.
America’s Most Wanted, John Walsh’s ground-breaking Fox television show, is now featuring Marizela’s story on its website here. Their appeal for help:
“Detectives with the Seattle Police Department say 18-year-old Marizela Perez left her home in Rainer Beach around noon on Saturday, March 5, 2011, en route to the campus library at the University of Washington.
A few hours later, surveillance cameras caught her shopping inside of a Safeway in Seattle’s University District. With her green Starbucks mug in-hand, she walked right by a camera, and exited the store a short time later. She hasn’t been seen since….If you know where Marizela Perez might be, you’ve got to call our Hotline right away at 1-800-CRIME-TV.”
Marizela is one of several young women who have gone missing in the Pacific Northwest over the last year.
I heard last week from a relative of Alexandra Xua, a 20-year-old college student who vanished from the Oregon City, Oregon area in January 2011 and is still missing:

Sounds like there may be a new Pacific Northwest stalker that likes Asian girls. Prayers that they are all found and in good shape.
I pray everyday that the Malkin family find out what happened to their family member. Seems to me that there might be a serial killer targeting women in that area since she is not the first to disappear from that area

I follow stories of missing people in order to pray for their families and hope there is some closure for them.
Marizela is still missing but, from what I gather, the prevailing thought is that she killed herself. She had been depressed over a breakup.
Kathy Chou’s body was found 1 year after she disappeared. Her ex-boyfriend Ezekiel Watkins confessed to her murder. His motive was Kathy had interfered with his new girlfriend. He lured her to a remote site and stabbed her. He asked his friend to help bury the body - this guy ratted him out a year later and took the police to the burial place. In a very sick twist, the murderer took the expensive sneakers off Kathy’s body and gave them to his girlfriend. The shoes were found in the girlfriend’s closet. She knew about the murder and kept quiet. I hope they charge her as an accessory. Kathy’s father had a hunch that Kathy’s ex boyfriend had been involved in her disappearance all along and he was proved to be right.
I can’t find anywhere if Alexandra Xua was ever found. The reason they stopped officially searching for her was that a private investigator discovered that she had secretly bought a train ticket to Los Angeles where her father lived. I don’t know if she ever made it to L.A or not.
