In contrast, children are voiceless, so they are the age group most likely to be poor today. Thats a practical and moral failure.
I dont want anybody to be poor, but, if I have to choose, Id say its more of a priority to help kids than seniors.

In addition to promoting the usual liberal agenda of government handing out money, he introduces the notion that rather than taking care of the elderly poor, who at that point indeed aren't able to make changes to improve their life, let them starve and take care of the "children".
I am sure there will be more and more articles like this.
Here is the recommendation for a solution from The Heritage Foundation:
How to Fight Poverty — and Win
“Promoting work and restoring marriage would be a better battle plan for eradicating poverty in America than spending more money on failed programs, writes Heritage Senior Research Fellow Robert Rector in todays Wall Street Journal, And it would help accomplish LBJs objective to replace their despair with opportunity.
I’m thinkin’ we need a War on Lack of Marriage.
To read the article in the WSJ — go to Google and put in “Robert Rector How the war on poverty was lost” or click on the link below, when you go from Google to WSJ, you can read it for free, if you go to the WSJ directly, only suscribers can read it:
Air Conditioning, Cable TV, and an Xbox: What is Poverty in the United States Today?
http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2011/07/what-is-poverty
The analysis showed that median poor households most frequently had the following 14 items: air conditioning, a clothes washer, a clothes dryer, ceiling fans, and a cordless phone.
For entertainment, these households had two color televisions, cable or satellite TV, a DVD player, and a VCR.
In the kitchen, these poor households had a refrigerator, an oven and stove, a microwave, and a coffee maker.
Amenities in Poor Families with Children. Poor families with children have more conveniences and amenities than other poor families. In 2005, the median amenity score for poor families with children was 16. We examined all poor families with children with an amenity score of 16 to determine which items appeared most frequently in these homes.
These homes typically had both air conditioning and a personal computer.
For entertainment, they typically had cable or satellite TV, three color televisions, a DVD player, a VCR, and a video game system, such as an Xbox or Play Station.
In the kitchen, they had a refrigerator, a stove and oven, a microwave, and an automatic coffee maker.
Other amenities included a cell phone, a cordless phone, and a clothes washer.[17]
The children may be “voiceless,” but they have managed to cut themselves a reasonable deal:
Food Stamps, Aid to Needy Families, legally mandated shelter for all children, full medical and dental coverage under Medicaid, school lunch, often school breakfast, sometimes school dinner, tax exemptions for their parents, tax credits for their parents, 12-14 years of free public education, subsidized loans for college, subsidized state universities, junior colleges, and trade schools, highly protective workplace laws, disability payments for life if necessary, extra Social Security payments after a parent dies.....
That’s a pretty good sample of federal aid.
All states offer additional aid to poor children besides school.
And, there are thousands of private charities that help children, none of which I have mentioned here.
Leftists talk through their blow hole and nothing of any meaning is forthcoming
Soon afterward, while driving home from Sacramento one night some driver pulled up really close behind me and began flashing his high beams on me and soon pulled up along side and as I glanced over I could see him shaking his fist at me and signaling to pull over!
I had Mrs. Wasp with me or I might have done just that because his behavior was strange and it hadn't occurred to me why he might be either helpful, or hostile. So I just ignored him after checking my gauges and my mirrors to see if I was blowing smoke, or not.
Long story short, the guy wouldn't stop chasing and acting more and more threatening till I finally out maneuvered him and lost him. We finaly remembered the adamant sign I had in the back window and now that I see this article and heard Rush talking about it today, I know exactly what made this obvious left tilting liberal so upset!
He knew that the sign could not be more literally correct and that the 20 Trillion dollars taken by force from taxpayers was as much wasted as he probably thought the money being taken and spent on the war on drugs was being wasted!!! I'll bet the author of this article thinks the same way, but would never admit any kind of moral equivalence and maybe there isn't any. I don't know.
Check this scenario out, Grampa I fergot ta ping ya!!!
Thats rich: Poverty level under Obama breaks 50-year record
“Fifty years after President Johnson started a $20 trillion taxpayer-funded war on poverty, the overall percentage of impoverished people in the U.S. has declined only slightly and the poor have lost ground under President Obama.”
“When the war on poverty started, about 6 percent of children were born outside of marriage,” he said. “Today that’s 42 percent catastrophe.”
Some progress. They’ve got 40% of the people trapped and living hand to mouth on the (multi-generational) government plantation existing off the tax payers.
Matriarchy and Polygamy a Regression to Primitivism

Yep, great “progress” has been made, they have increased it form thousands to 44 million plus. Now that’s definitely progress.
Progress and all it took was 20.7 trillion dollars, what a bargain
To talk about “poor children” without talking about their parents makes no sense. Are there untethered children running about the streets of America, whose parents have died or disappeared? Liberals cannot stand to ever place blame where it belongs.
Just bring on the death panels and get rid of these useless seniors. Who needs them?
More correctly, you fight poverty by working and being married to the mother of your children. Those are the best indicators for avoiding poverty...
Id say its more of a priority to help kids than seniors.

I’d say that your base of morality has tons of holes, Mr. Kristof. It’s a priority to help HUMAN BEINGS...period!
Im thinkin we need a War on Lack of Responsibility.
Hey Ray! Yer right!! 51 years last August!!! (smug grin)
