Maddow Suggests Plausible Alternate Theory to Christie NJ Bridge Scandal

...

The e-mail sent by Christie aide Bridget Kelly to the Port Authority executive behind the lane closures was dated August 13th, 2013, “the order to unleash hell on Fort Lee.” And Maddow believed Christie “very convincingly quashed” the idea that this was because of a refusal to endorse, but connected the dots to suggest another motivation.

In 2010, Christie took the unprecedented step of refusing to reappoint a New Jersey Supreme Court justice for another term, which set off the New Jersey Democrats, who got back at Christie by shooting down all the other Supreme Court justice nominees he put forward.

So when a Republican member of the New Jersey Supreme Court came up for reappointment last year, NJ Senate Democrats promised to make it a brutal fight, so Christie decided to stop the reappointment. He was furious at Senate Democrats, and held a press conference getting really angry with them.

That press conference, expressing much anger with Senate Democrats, was held on August 12, 2013, a day before the Bridgegate e-mail was sent. And Fort Lee, the town that got backed up, is part of the legislative district represented by Loretta Weinberg. The leader of the Senate Democrats.

Christie closes a lane on a bridge ... we have a full media examination.

Holder runs guns to Mexican drug lords in an attempt to negate the 2nd Ammendment, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Mexicans and a couple of American border guards. He is then found guilty of Contempt of Congress and is currently stonewalling a federal judge to comply with orders to produce communications, thus threatening the shared power feature of the Constitution...and the media is silent.

Whatever sleazy tactics this pushy, controlling bully employed, lets hope the coservative media takes on two premises , one, that this little story is dwarfed by what BO is doing to this country it’s history and culture on a weekly basis and, two, that this story was brought out just as people started talking about how horrible gates claims BO is at being CIC

To be fair, it was 3 of 4 lanes on a bridge...

And you’re right, the media is comparatively not interested in Obama scandals, acting like they’re no big deal,

even though they are a huge abuse of power and people have died because of them.

I think we need Levin’s ConCon, and fast.

Attacking the messenger like that really advances your position.

The whole "didn't endorse" angle wasn't logical and Christie spending 90 minutes saying this wasn't the reason was unconvincing.

I'm hoping after they finished excoriating Christie, they feel like it will be okay to go after Obama.

Limbaugh had a great take on all of this. He went after the press for their kid gloves approach to Obama, but he didn't give Christie a pass either. He also showed how small this one is compared to Obama’s list.

But I am glad we don't have to put up with the RINOs pushing this little bully dictator down our throats for the Republican nomination.

His “I am not a bully” reminded me of Nixon's “I am not a crook.” In hindsight, Nixon's Watergate was small potatoes, compared to the Clinton and Obama scandals. Some of them were never even investigated.

But being a Republican means you have to be cleaner and obviously Christie fails whether he gave the actual order or not. His aide didn't simply decide she was bored and sent out the email to start the traffic problems in Fort Lee. The recipient of the email responded with the curt “Got It.” And now we find out another guy involved in the scandal is taking the fifth.

Obviously, something was going on in the Christie admin, where he either knew about it or tried to have plausible deniability.

Judging from the sh!t storm Christy created, it’s a good thing he didn’t shut down the Amber Alert System, National Parks and Open Air Monuments, the road past Mount Rushmore, restaurants and hotels in national parks at gunpoint, federal highways, or try to disrupt Honor Flights. Punishing people like that would have been really bad.

The press caught Christie jaywalking and they’re out for blood.

Same press that looks the other way when the power of the IRS is used against private citizens for political reasons. (Eff you New York Times)

What Christie’s staff did was wrong. It doesn’t hold a candle to the IRS scandal, Benghazi or Fast and Furious...

Doesn’t even hold a candle to the justifiable outrage over a biased dishonest press...

“Ailes is right. Maddow is smart, however ideologically misguided.”

Actually, that's why I watched it last night to find out what Ailes was talking about. I seldom ever watch that channel.

I watched almost all of Christie's press conference earlier and believed him until I heard the story about the traffic study. His excuse that he wouldn't know a traffic study if it bit him was pure phony. That is his duty to find out and ask the right questions in areas he is not knowledgeable in. Following his logic, no one should be Commander in Chief, unless they've be in military command. I just want someone that is honest, smart enough to ask the right questions, put the right people in charge, and set a path for this country in which Americans can be proud.

There’s a politician called George Norcross in this state, basically owns Camden County, nothing happens without his say so—and there’s never been a word of complaint about him anywhere except from one lone newspaper in the area. He makes these (alleged) actions by Christie’s machine seem like making sand castles. Here in my office, a democrat who has never said word one about Norcross or Obama was ranting for a full 45 minutes quoting the above (alleged) scenario.

Outrage over a biased dishonest press is misplaced. Outrage should be addressed at anyone who is thoughtless enough not to realize that the press is a monopoly, and that its interests are backed by the Democratic Party, which obtains unremittingly favorable PR in return.

Unfettered abuse of power delaying tens of thousands of people and disrupting commerce in the area is a “non-issue”?

Not saying that Christie knew anything or that there aren’t more serious issues, but this is an example of how out of control our government has become.

Pissed off at the Fort Lee Democrats? Go ahead and mess with everyone in the city just because you can - they are just peons anyway.

Those responsible need to go to jail for a term equal to the number of hours lost - maybe 10,000 people losing 1 hour per day for four days = 4.5 years.

OK, if Christie was involved he needs to be held into account.

But where’s the perspective and the sense of proportion from our media?

Let’s put it this way.... The Mainstream Media is hyperventilating over a traffic jam?

If only they were as concerned about the gridlock in the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C. as they are about the gridlock on the George Washington Bridge.

To my knowledge, no one has been fired for the hundreds of deaths in Fast & Furious, the 4 deaths in the Benghazi terrorist attack, the IRS scandal, the NSA scandal or the ObamaCare debacle. No one.

But by golly, the Mainstream Media and Democrats are getting their pound of flesh over bumper-to-bumper traffic over the Hudson River.

Oh for God sakes, now we're agreeing with Rachel Maddow's feverish nutjob theories!

None of us on this site wanted to see Christie as president. That's done now. He's a big dead fish on the national stage. Whether he knew what these dickheads were up to or not, it's over. Good.

But the hypocritical leftists are nowhere near happy. They are going to try to milk this for all its worth. They don't distinguish between conservatives and GOPe or RINOs or all this infighting. Those conservatives piling on Christie now are adding fuel to the fire that is going to be used by the leftists to clobber all Republicans, conservative or not, in the coming elections.

The Democrats are traditionally the party of big government jerkwads screwing the little people - the commuters, the people going to work every day, the taxpayers. But they are going to use this incident to turn the tables, as they always do, with the help of the leftwing media, like Rachel Maddow. And people around here are eager to nod their heads in agreement.

If information comes out that Christie knew about this, I'd support not only removal but prosecution. But for now, I'm taking him at his word. He's a big government clown, but he has no history as a liar.

The move for conservatives at this point is to use this incident to highlight the media disparity in coverage of scandals. One conservative website pointed out that in the first 24 hours, this stupid bridge story received 17 times the national network news coverage that the IRS story has over the last six months! One story is about the executive branch politicizing one of the most powerful arms of government and using it as a weapon to advance their political party and aims, while the other story is about closing two lanes on a bridge at rush hour.

I don't expect the liberal media to maintain any perspective, but it would be nice if the people on this website would.

To be fair, it was 3 of 4 lanes on a bridge...

To be more fair, it was 2 of 12 or so lanes on the bridge. Both were of the three (on the right) coming out of the town of Fort Lee, rather than from the major highways that feed the vast majority of bridge traffic.

First of all, nobody has produced any evidence that he knew beforehand. But, even if he didn't, he still surrounded himself with morons.

But that was not my point anyway. My point is that conservatives, by joining in the already insanely exaggerated response to this, are stoking the fire that will burn all Republican or Tea Party candidates in the future. They are trying to solidify the idea that Republicans will screw the people and only liberal Democrats can save them.

We are validating their over reaction and retroactively approving their non-reaction to the far bigger scandals on their side of the aisle.

I don't give a crap about Christie's fatass, but I don't think we should be gleefully endorsing their worldview to our own long term detriment.

I wish he would really take responsibility and resign.

If someone commits robbery, the police don't say we can't investigate the crime because someone committed murder and that's far more important.

Someone doesn't take the 5th because there isn't anything to investigate. Christie should have found out what was going on at the very least. Instead he kept making fun of the scandal. This has been going on for months now. He could have already found out what was going on at the bridge and what were the details of the so called traffic study. Instead he claims ignorance and he says he didn't ask Bridget why she lied because he wasn't interested by the time he fired her.

A clock is correct twice a day. This sounds plausible.

What should bug people about this, is revenge was taken on the voters for actions done by their elected officials, and that’s not right. It’s like when Obastard refused to designate Red State areas as federal disaster areas for a flood a few years ago, while green-lighting the designation for Blue States on the other side of the river. That pi$$ed us off then, and this should draw the same reaction now.

It’s one thing to let idiots suffer who vote retards into office (I’m looking at YOU, California), and it’s another to take revenge on those voters by taking a hand by actively making bad things happen.

It’s that kind of wrong.

Exactly! I am not a fan of Gov. Christie, but he TRUTHFULLY explained what he knew.. which is something Democrats have a hard time doing.. The Clintons, Al Gore, Barney Frank, Sandy Berger, Spitzer and Weiner are but a few on a Long List of Leftist Liars.

I dutifully voted Democrat until 9/11/01 when it became obvious to me they cared little about what was Best for America and All about what was Best for their own Political Careers. I had to educated myself to find out how the Democrats scam the American people on a daily basis.. The Liberal Main Stream Media certainly wasn't going to inform me.

Just under Obama alone we have Benghazi , Fast and Furious , AP Scandal, IRS Scandals, NSA Scandals, EPA Scandals, FBI and CIA Scandals not to mention the Biggest Scam of them all.. "Man-Made Global Warming" or as they_conveniently_call it now.. 'Climate Change' (which has gone on since the beginning of time).

Follow the money and on the other end you will find power-hungry Progressive Liberals Hellbent on Enriching themselves and Enslaving the rest of us. They get away with it because we have a dumbed-down, complacent electorate, a bias and dishonest Main Stream Media and an Educational System that re-writes history and Bullies their students.

What Christies aids did was despicable and worthy of scrutiny.. I just wish the MSM would scrutinize Leftist corruption and crime a fraction of the amount of time they devote to stories of inconvenience caused by someone on the Right.

He's caused traffic stalls, loss of business to local stores and a cost of millions for local protection.

Cost the area IMO 30-50 million for him come here and get 1 million to the DNC or himself in donations. Seems wrong IMO, and how many times across the nation has Obama’s activities that tied up traffic killed people who could not get to a loved one or a hospital on time?

Also, look at all the on purpose damage of closings Obama did when he closed the government to punish people.

Yep. Rush made this point yesterday too.

I'm hoping that by pointing out the difference in the pursuit of this story and the pursuit of all of Obama’s scandals some reporters that were holding back on the Obama scandals realize that maybe they could still have a career if they actually report.

I don't feel sorry for Christie. He seemed to be trying to make sure Romney didn't win after he wasn't picked for VP.
All that cozying up to Obama was for naught. I don't think he has Teflon coating like Obama does. This scandal such as it is, isn't going away. He should have gone ahead and announced he was going to become a Democrat. Then he would be protected.

Excellent points on how Obama has caused and continues to cause massive tie-ups not only to traffic, but to government as well.. All for his own personal gain and pleasure.

The Despicable Leftist Media tried to tie the death of an elderly woman to the traffic jams. When asked, the daughter of the woman said it absolutely had nothing to do with her mothers death. Will the MSM report that? I seriously doubt it.

If someone commits robbery, the police don't say we can't investigate the crime because someone committed murder and that's far more important.

Are you really worried that this incident will not be thoroughly investigated?

This will be the most investigated event since the Kennedy murder (one of the ones where a Kennedy died, not one of the ones where a Kennedy killed).

The state police, the FBI are already on the case. Plus every single journalistic manhour possible will turn over every rock, scan every computer, sniff every crotch they have to uncover every last shred of evidence they can. And, even then, if they find nothing implicating Christie in the event, they'll declare him guilty simply because the preponderance of investigative effort proves he was involved.

Someone doesn't take the 5th because there isn't anything to investigate.

Christie didn't take the fifth. He answered questions from the hostile press for over an hour. One of the guilty parties pleaded the fifth, no doubt under orders from his lawyer.

No, I'm saying it should be investigated, not swept under a rug because it doesn't rise to the level of Obama’s scandals. Christie did it to himself.

Christie didn't take the fifth. He answered questions from
the hostile press for over an hour. One of the guilty parties pleaded the fifth, no doubt under orders from his lawyer.”

No one said Christie took the 5th. I actually started out believing Christie, but I didn't know that much about this incident. But the longer he talked, I got the impression he was covering up. He didn't know a traffic study if it bit him. Give me a break. His job is to figure out what is going on. He had months to do it. He didn't ask Bridget why she lied. He said he wasn't interested at this point. I don't believe this either.

I guess he didn't talk to his employees that ordered this study. It just didn't ring true the longer he talked.
