This is great:
More than six million Americans already have coverage thanks to the Affordable Care Act.
That includes more than 2.1 million people who signed up for private plans on the health insurance marketplace -- every day, more people are signing up for coverage, many for the first time in their lives.
Wednesday, January 15th, is the next big deadline for anyone who wants to be covered starting on February 1st. If you haven't enrolled yet, make sure you set aside some time in the next few days to check out your options.

I'd also like to know the number enrolled, using the insurance industry standard definition for that word - Paperwork completed and approved, first month's premium received.

“signed up” would have to mean that if the “signee” slipped on the icy pavement and broke his leg he could go to his doctor and hospital that hour and would get all the medical treatment necessary in a timely fashion and not have to pay very much for it..
