Maine’s governor wants to make it easier for children to work

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) said Tuesday that state regulations governing child labor are hurting the state’s economy, according to the Portland Press Herald.

“We don’t allow children to work until they’re 16, but two years later, when they’re 18, they can go to war and fight for us,” LePage said at an agricultural trade show, according to the paper. “That’s causing damage to our economy. I started working far earlier than that, and it didn’t hurt me at all. There is nothing wrong with being a paperboy at 12 years old, or at a store sorting bottles at 12 years old.” …

Funny. The WaPo should say the opposite when writing about increases in the minimum wage.

I had a paper route by 10 years old. I even had to go collect my own fees, which was good in a way because I’d get tips. The downside was trying to catch people at home.

Rain, hail, sleet, snow, wind, you name it, I went out and did it. Learned work ethics.

Governor Lepage has been causing liberals, progressive, socialists, communists and democrats to wet their pants and explode their poorly formed minds for over 20 years. Good work, governor!

At the age of 7 I worked on local farm in Ft. Fairfield, Maine, picking potatoes.

At the age of 11, my younger brother and I worked on a horse farm in Arizona.

In the seventh grade I took over my first paper route. And I’ve been working fulltime or parttime at one thing or another ever since.

Only once did I work in a family business. According to most state and federal labor laws, starting to work at age 7 for a non-family business is now illegal.

Keep up the good work, governor.

The difficulty comes in part because government has forced society to wait until they are sixteen.

If you wait until sixteen to start teaching foreign languages, how good a linguist does that produce?

Anyone who thinks a work ethic is easier or less important to produce than linguistic facility really doesn’t think clearly.

Clear thinking is not a strong trait of liberals, progressives, etc.

The way they’re going, children will end up being anyone under 40. If they live that long . . .

I thank god everyday that this is my governor! Here’s hoping Elliot Cuttler pulls enough votes from the democrat to ensure LaPage a second term!!!!

Picked many potatoes in Aroostook County before I was 16. 25 cents a barrel, and 5 cents a barrel bonus if you stayed for the whole harvest.

Washington’s Continental Army drummer boys were as young as 9 years old. Maybe even younger.

They were called “Drummer Boys” because they were boys.

Pajama boy. Lounging around in his pajamas at 26 and dreaming of socialized medicine.

Slipping on a robe only to adjust his solar panels. When you're home all day it's a lot easier to maximize solar collection. This reduces solar panel payback time from 40 to only 30 years. That's when pajama boy gets to retire!!!

The Governor has done a good job this past year winning back some of his shaky supporters. He kind of lost me with the vasoline comment, but I’m back on board.

AKA “fourth-trimester” abortion. Even when babies make it out of the womb after a natural birth, these unnatural people consider them “potential persons” . . .
