HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Clifford Hall says he's more than happy to pay child support for his 11-year-old son.

"I'm his father it's my responsibility to take care of him," Hall says.

But Hall says when the amount of child support was modified no one told him.

"I discovered for some reason his employer was withholding a large amount some weeks a small amount some weeks a zero amount some weeks," says Hall's attorney Tyesha Elam.

"I didn't want to go to jail basically," Hall says.

So Hall quickly paid almost 3 grand in back child support.

It’s his responsibility to support his child.
Child support is not taken out if the father has been paying.
Having said that, sue the employer for their failure to remove the required amounts

That is a really badly written article. But it sounds like the judge needs to be removed from this courtroom.

I had to check to see if it was the same judge I had.

Truly horrible writing. Don't news organizations hire people that know how to write an article? That's why I come here for my news, most Freepers have better writing skills than those in the mainstream media.

I'm sure there's more to the story here but we'll likely never know due to the poorly written article.

Too bad he was not a woman. My ex wife has not paid child support since Nov 2011.

I have not raised a stink about it but still....

Child support is not taken out if the father has been paying.

Don't you think that might depend on the state?

While I understand some men not collecting child support from their ex-wives, I am struck by how many women I know have gone after their ex-husbands for miniscule amounts just to ‘stick it to them’.

My ex wife had to pay me child support, and I took a guilty pleasure in watching the Contempt of Court hearings. One time it was before a Commissioner who spent two minutes chewing *me* out for not paying the support, touching on every point he could about what a mean and rotten person I was. I let him go on and on, then when he got through his spiel, I asked him if he was finished yet. He got really angry then.

That’s when I told him I’m the payee, and not the payer, and was willing to accept his apology. You don’t often get to enjoy a laugh at the court’s expense.

In Texas, all child support is garnished from wages. No choice.

My ex told me point-blank she didn’t believe women should ever have to pay child support. I told her she can take that attitude right to jail, which she then did. Several times.

It’s only 42.00 damn bucks a week.

If it were me, is be under the jail.

Just can’t stand the double standards and hypocrisy.

And THIS is why I advise my daughter to, and my son never to get married.

It was an unexpected pleasure. Every time I dragged her in for a Contempt of Court hearing was a good thing because I knew where she was going after the hearing, and that one time was truly icing on the cake.

There were times when the roles of payer/payee were reversed, and I was never so much as a day late or a dollar short.

Sage advice. The “Family Courts” are so out of whack a man doesn’t have a chance. I should note that in the instances described above, I had to force the court to do something about her delinquencies. They would never have bothered to try to collect, left to their own devices.

While women have advocates to help them through the process, men do not.

It’s even worst in the God Forsaken State of New Jersey. After your child support ends, you have to file for Emancipation. This will cost you another $3000-5000 for it to be finally over.
