Obama: 'This Will Be a Year of Action' on Economy (An admission of five years of being a failure)

Echoing past economic promises of “green shoots,” “five million green collar jobs,” and “recovery summer,” President Barack Obama said during his Saturday weekly address that 2014 will be a “year of action” on the economy. “This will be a year of action. I’ll keep doing everything I can to create new jobs and new opportunities for American families – with Congress, on my own, and with everyone willing to play their part,” said Obama.

Obama’s latest economic pivot comes on the heels of a dismal Friday jobs report that shows the U.S. labor force participation rate has contracted to its lowest rate in 36 years.

Still, the president declared the Obama economy is booming. “Across our broader economy, there are signs of progress. Our manufacturing and housing sectors are rebounding. Our energy, technology, and auto sectors are booming. Thanks in part to the reforms in the Affordable Care Act, health care costs now eat up less of our economy,” he said.

On Friday, the government announced that a record 91.8 million Americans are no longer in the labor force.

A CEO of a company known for such failure and mis-management would have been fired years ago by its board of directors.

Where is our board of directors(Congress)?

Not to be found.

Obama getting away with this highlights John Boehner's failure as Speaker.

I guess our economy isn’t quite dead yet, so
Obama is making a final effort to kill it.

Why do we need a year of action if everything is so swell according to the MSM?

We need our government to QUIT TRYING TO CREATE JOBS!

That will help for starters. How about just banning any new legislation that is not centered around a repeal until 2016? That would help the economy too.

Using Karl Marx’s ideas to help the middle class is like using Hitler’s ideas to help the Jews.

But the middle class keeps voting for this stuff....

From
http://www.climate-skeptic.com/2013/12/explaining-the-flaw-in-kevin-drums-and-apparently-science-magazines-climate-chart.html

Well, maybe I did not explain the issue well. So I found a political analysis that may help Kevin Drum see the problem. This is from an actual blog post by Dave Manuel (this seems to be such a common data analysis fallacy that I found an example on the first page of my first Google search). It is an analysis of average GDP growth by President. I don’t know this Dave Manuel guy and can’t comment on the data quality, but let’s assume the data is correct for a moment. Quoting from his post:

Here are the individual performances of each president since 1948:

1948-1952 (Harry S. Truman, Democrat), +4.82%
1953-1960 (Dwight D. Eisenhower, Republican), +3%
1961-1964 (John F. Kennedy / Lyndon B. Johnson, Democrat), +4.65%
1965-1968 (Lyndon B. Johnson, Democrat), +5.05%
1969-1972 (Richard Nixon, Republican), +3%
1973-1976 (Richard Nixon / Gerald Ford, Republican), +2.6%
1977-1980 (Jimmy Carter, Democrat), +3.25%
1981-1988 (Ronald Reagan, Republican), 3.4%
1989-1992 (George H. W. Bush, Republican), 2.17%
1993-2000 (Bill Clinton, Democrat), 3.88%
2001-2008 (George W. Bush, Republican), +2.09%
2009 (Barack Obama, Democrat), -2.6%

The whole notion that we now have an ‘unemployment rate’ that can be theoretically 0% yet have nobody employed would make even Orwell recoil in horror. Yet here we are and there it is.

I think Obama has done quite enough to the economy already.

It hate to look back on all those “recovery summers” that fizzled out, knowing how many people there are out there that are suffering because of this socialist.

I’m confused.
This shows inflation adjusted GDP 2008 at $14,883b
and 2012 at $15,470
