President Barack Obama will on Tuesday discuss a topic he is familiar with from his childhood – American women living in economic insecurity and trying to be breadwinners and caregivers at the same time.

Raised by a single mother who was described as someone who struggled to pay the bills, Obama on Tuesday will meet with Maria Shriver, who is reporting on some 42 million women who she says live “one single incident – a doctor's bill, a late paycheck, or a broken-down car – away from economic ruin."

Shriver's latest investigation in her series from "The Shriver Report" is titled: "A Woman's Nation Pushes Back from the Brink."

The report finds that women comprise up two-thirds of the primary or co-breadwinners in American families. The average female earns 77 cents for every dollar pulled down by a man...

Looks like to read the report you must have a Kindle, which is why the page gives a link to Amazon rather than a PDF download.

Why not ask the mother with 3 children who’s husband decided to take off and leave her on her own.

I'm not deriding your post, but there are a LOT of fathers out here pulling down the full time jobs, tending home and have kids full time. The deficit for them (the fathers)? MANY don't understand or short change the Dad's situation like they don't exist. Reality? It is VERY common but does not fit the story line and those guys get run through the grinder in "family court" anyway. To be true, there are dirt bag guys out there (lots) not supporting their responsibility, but there are also women that know those kids equal $$$ if they don't want that free abortion the democrats love to push. It is a net result of our society voting in politicians who condone such behavior. Lets face facts; our society learned it could vote itself the treasury as well as never being held to account at all ever again. It's not going to end well.

Not obama alone, the democrats and the gop-e; The feral government in DC. Without a truly destitute and dependent class there is no reason for 90% of DC to exist. The “payday” will run out soon enough and those paying attention are [preparing accordingly. Those that are not will be the “problem children”. I saw someone on FR post a handful of weeks back to the tune of “take note of who got us here, make sure they pay and never weasel their way back after the collapse and re-building”.

Zippy went to an exclusive private school in Hawaii.

I'll say one thing for him though. He knows how to impoverish other people.

I was not saying anything against the fathers who struggle to raise their children for they have a difficult road.

What I was trying to say was that mac daddies choice could have been better, the reason i left him out was that whatever he says or does is meaningless and has no credibility. As with all his decisions it was meaningless and all show without any substance.

I personally know three women in this situation. One woman, 23 years old, and her mother is trying to get her on DISABILITY because she made poor choices and is suffering mentally and physically. Non-stop trips to ER (Medicaid, of course)
