The Weather Channel goes dark on DirecTV
WattsUpWithThat.com ^ | 13JAN2014 | Anthony Watts

Posted on 01/13/2014 9:21:48 PM PST by Jack Hydrazine

The Weather Channel feed was switched to show WeatherNationTv just after midnight EST January 14th. the TWC logo is there still in the DirecTV channel lineup, but the content is WeatherNation.

See the proof, this screencap off my TV at 9:02PM PST (12:02 AM EST):

TWC demanded more money from DirectTV. DirectTV said no.

Then TWC tried to petition congress to force DirectTV to carry TWC by claiming it was a public safety issue...

I hope DirectTV drops them permanently as a result.

TWC only owns a 30% stake in The Weather Network in Canada and has no say in operations; the controlling shareholder is Canadian. Their website provides excellent forecasts.

Go to NOAA.gov and get more accurate weather forcasting.

The meterologist, Norm Colman, that started the Weather Channel, quit discusted when they srarted their global warming crap.

This is kind of funny and shrewd move - just put another weather related channel (probably one more like the way the Weather Channel used to be) in the exact same position on the dial as TWC that has gotten dropped...bet most won’t even miss them...and it tosses their “safety” argument out the window.

This is sort of like how Time Warner Cable a couple of years ago had local channels drop them for not paying higher fees and they just put affiliates of the same networks from other media markets into the same slot on the dial so most people didn’t even notice.

They stream the channel online...looks like they just forecast the weather...sort of the way The Weather Channel used to be.

“I am not at all familiar with WeatherNation what is their stance on Globo-warmin’”

NONE.. They simply do the weather, on a 3-hour loop.

They can’t drop it. It would be akin to HIGH TREASON, in today’s world.

It:
1) pimps the gay agenda.
2) pimps the global warming bs.
3) pimps the liberal agenda.
...is owned by a 4) black, 5) democrat-supporting, 6) woman.

It’s a real hit with the media types, and that is all that matters. Advertisers are forced to support it, lest they be branded A) Racist, B) Woman-haters, C) Homophobic.

I got so sick and tired of the ridiculous shows (i.e.)hunting for gems, global warming, etc. that I quit watching it. The only good thing was the ability to check on your hometown’s weather on demand and I can find the same information and more on the computer.

I hope this channel sticks with the weather and doesn’t try to hatch weather personalities ad nausea like the Weather Channel did. I have contacted the new channel with my sentiments.

>> NBC-dictated Globo-warmin’ propaganda bandwagon.

That would be Comcast/GE.

Well my power is still on. Everything is eerily quiet, but I think its because it is nighttime. I am pretty sure I came through this catastrophe.

If only Comcast would drop them too.

That said I admit to watching the probably now canceled Iceberg Hunters. FWIW all of TWC "reality programming" should have been on other channels.

On Comcast TWC also has a local weather only channel, weatherscan IIRC. Of course Comcast being Comcastic doesn't provide that on the lower tiers so it's pretty much useless.

I don’t pay for TV so I would never notice. Most of out TV viewing is with Chromcast and local news over the air. $1,200 a year seems an awfully high price to pay for what can be had for free.

Another MSNBC buyout results in a destroyed product that's not fit to watch any longer.
For those of you who want the weather and want it now, try Intellicast.com and type in your zip code on the upper right.
