I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there...

I started in the Electric Utility business before the oil&gas work, so it catches my eye.

The winter peaks are less around here than the summer peaks. But for that same reason, planned maintenance that requires extended downtime is schedule in the winter.

Combine several units planned down with a cold snap that bumps up demand, and then a couple units that trip offline unexpectedly, and we get the rolling blackouts like 2011 (which was a bad one).

“won’t” is a future event.

“Have been” is a passed event.

In the time it takes to shut down the existing coal fired plants, and replace that electrical generating capacity, Obama’s EPA will have set in motion the rules to constrain electrical production via natural gas facilities.

Obama’s 2008 statement and his use of the EPA for implementation of his dictatorial agenda, is all of the “proof” that I require.

You must be really good at playing Twister.

Are you now claiming there won’t be another Natural Gas Plant permitted?

Require for what? False statements?

You have yet to answer my question. You don’t work in the industry and have no idea as what you are talking about.

That’s all the “proof” I require.

Oh...so now you need to work in the industry to see what Obama and the EPA have in store?

Were you able to see the hazards of Obamacare without being in the Healthcare or Insurance industry?

Let’s assume that your question is:

“What facts do you have to back up your statement?”

In which case I answered that in post #32.

Obama’s 2008 statement and his subsequent actions via the EPA, are sufficient for me to assert his intent to stop the growth of electrical generation via natural gas.

These commies are patient. They don’t need to do it all at once.

In Post #5, you wrote:

The EPA won’t authorize construction of any new natural gas facilities....

based upon what they said in 2008.

In the five years since then, they continue to authorize construction of new natural gas facilities (power plants).

They are not permitting additional coal fired plants, using EPA restrictions, in spite of not passing cap and trade.

Some were approved in the early part of his term, but we have a clear view of the end of that era.

If you somehow believe Nat Gas won’t suffer the same fate, under Obama, you are deluded.

The link I posted in #30 includes new coal fired power plants. Here it is again:

http://www.puc.texas.gov/industry/maps/elecmaps/gentable.pdf

While they are making it more difficult and more expensive, new power plants fueled by Natural Gas and Coal are continuing to be permitted and put into service.

If you somehow believe Nat Gas won’t suffer the same fate, under Obama, you are deluded.

You are simply uninformed.

Through the first 11 months of 2013, about 6,568 MW of natural gas-fueled generating capacity has been installed, according to the latest infrastructure update from FERC. By contrast, only 1,543 MW of new coal generating capacity was installed during the first 11 months of the year.

Did you happen to miss the story from this last week that made it clear that with the new EPA regs just announced, it will be somewhere between impossible and unprofitable to build or modify compliant power plants?

I’ll try to remember to ping you on the next new coal power plant.

There are still Americans working in the energy industries that haven’t given up and rolled over. A few are FReepers as well.

I’m struggling with the notion that you seem to be arguing with the opening sentence in story:

“Now a new Environmental Protection Agency rule on power plants requires a massive reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and threatens to block any new coal-fired energy facilities because they cannot hope to meet the new standards without using unproven and cost-prohibitive technology.”

That is a proposed rule, and the WND description. It is not in place.

I’ll ping you on the next couple coal plant construction announcements.

Cheers

Apparently, when the Toxic Substance Act legislation was passed, certain chemicals were exempted. The coal prep chemical was one of them.
