There have been no media reports on First Lady Michelle Obama’s extended Hawaii vacation since it was abruptly announced she was staying behind when her husband and daughters returned to Washington from the family’s annual Christmas vacation to the state where the president was raised as a teenager.
A Google News search shows only a handful of articles just after New Year’s Day based on local reports Obama was staying at the Maui estate of Oprah Winfrey. Those articles mentioned Maui locals upset by road closures near Winfrey’s estate. Since then there have been no reports of Obama dining out (which she loves to do), hitting the beach or being seen in public at all.
The only reporter to break the news blackout of late is Keith Koffler, who reported that according to a White House schedule, she is expected to headline a White House event this Wednesday, thus ending her nearly four week vacation.
The Obama administration has a history of bullying the press to keep them from reporting on the Obama family’s luxury vacations at taxpayer expense. Once again it appears the media has acquiesced. Not even the paparazzi have dared take pictures of Obama on her extended vacation.
Koffler reported it is estimated Obama’s separate return travel and Secret Service retinue will cost an additional $200,000 on top of the estimated $4 million cost of the family’s Christmas vacation.
The First Lady turns 50 years old this Friday. A gala White House party is planned for Saturday night, but guests are being encouraged to eat dinner beforehand. The Obamas would have had to borne the cost of their guests’ dinner as this is a private party and not an affair of state that could be paid by the taxpayers. There is no word on whether there will be a cash or open bar.
Obama won’t stay home for long, however. She is set to wing her way to the West Coast at the end of January for Democratic Party fundraisers in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The media is more of a symptom than the disease, IMO. Their grandfathers never got away with anything like this. Look at newspapers from World War II or the fifties.
Don’t laugh, but I suspect they’re planning her presidential run.

Nothing would surprise me at this point. If that does happen I would love to see the Clinton’s faces when they are told.

I disagree. The Media in America...the Western Media in general has always had a deep seeded hatred for this country and every founding principle that made her great. Evidence of it can be seen going all the way back to WWI.
They just become more brazen and open about it in the early 60’s.
Now, all pretenses are gone and their disdain for America is out in the open for all to see. Trouble is that too many people agree with them and feel we need to be taken down a notch, if not completely.

I respect your opinion, I simply disagree with you because I have been told differently by two people who have been there. One with many presidents. Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under this fancy “Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan,” which means that even if she never gets re-elected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies. If Bill out-lives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary out-lives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies.
Guess who pays for that? WE DO
It’s common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency, they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua. New York . Makes sense. They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense.
Here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month. BUT,an extra residence HAD to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents. The Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we,the taxpayers, are Clinton ‘s salary, mortgage, transportation, safety & security, as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff- and, this is all perfectly legal!
