According to an article on the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) News, Peoples World, in December of 2013 a Communist award ceremony was held in a New Haven Connecticut public high school auditorium where the Democrat State Rep, Former Democrat State Senator and the local Union President all received awards:
"Former state Senator Ed Gomes, a steelworker,
state representative Edwin Vargas, a teacher

yes some are just that.
but many are just “caring people” who want more govt programs than you or I do
but they can also be very anti-Commie
or at least do not wish a dictatorship (like we are getting now)
please don’t discount or condemn all D voters (as, for instance, cowardly commies) because many just aren’t...
and they can and may very well vote for something else than what we are getting now
