Jolly is not the guy we wanted.
No he is not, and I'm a little scared that Mark Bircher, the true conservative among the three of them, came in third place.
Jolly is an establishment Republican. This is not a step I hoped we'd take.
Don’t be too perturbed. It wasn’t a very conservative district, which is why the general will be competitive.
Republicans all over the nation ignore or minimize primaries at our own peril
...so was Bill Young. You ain't gonna' get a Tea Party rep in the land of the most liberal - by far - newspaper in America.
bigbob, guys like BadBob told us to stop votin’.
My wife and I voted for Bircher, but figured that Jolly would win the primary. Jolly had significantly more advertising than Bircher and I view him as a better alternative than Peters. This district is a mixed bag. Bill Young usually voted the right way, but was way too long in the office. Jolly is certainly preferable to any Dem. There is a libertarian running as well, but I’m not sure yet if they’re an actual libertarian or a Democrat libertarian. I guess time will tell...
If it’s any consolation, turnout for yesterday’s primary was the highest the SoE has seen for a primary in years. They got nearly 25% turnout which is incredible.
The Tampa Bay Slimes (AKA St. Pete Slimes) has been in decline for decades.
About 20 years ago, I used to help my mom deliver papers for them. Newspaper “assembly” and delivery was my first job as a teen.
In the mid-90s, they canned all of the distribution folks and told them they had to re-apply as contractors. My mother had nearly 20 years in with them, a pension forthcoming, and just 3 months shy of her 20 year mark, they cancelled the pension program. Needless to say, she was upset.
I vowed to never give another dime of my money to that worthless organization.
