Mike Lee photo depicts a nation of federal regulations

Congress passed a historically low number of laws in 2013, but the executive branch bureaucrats who write the nation's federal regulations remained as busy as ever, as Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, demonstrated with a single picture.

"Behold my display of the 2013 Federal Register," Lee wrote in a caption for a photo posted to his Facebook page on Friday.

"It contains over 80,000 pages of new rules, regulations, and notices all written and passed by unelected bureaucrats. The small stack of papers on top of the display are the laws passed by elected members of Congress and signed into law by the president."

This is how you bury a capitalist country. Government bureaucrats have to pass regulations to justify their paychecks, so the bigger government grows, the more parasites are sucking the life out of their host, the private sector. The private sector ends up dead, and the parasites scream in the streets that their source of blood has dried up.

Congress did this to themselves when they created government agencies and gave them the power to make rules and regulations with the weight of law.

Still think just voting will do the job? To reduce the size of Federal Government you’d need to layoff a lot of folks with union representation. How’s that gonna fly?

The first ‘cost cutting’ regulation that needs to be passed is to eliminate any and all airconditiong from office buildings in DC and within 20m radius of congress. Next, no office thermostat may be set higher than 60F in the winter time. Only computer facilities should be a/c and no more than one desk per facility for anyone to actually sit down.

Time was, prior to air conditioning, when DC was essentially empty between May and September. That alone limited the mischief.

Captions go a long way. Without captions, the photo is meaningless on its own without reading the article. With captions, it can be shared with one click on Facebook, etc.

Took me 2 minutes on MS “Paint,” which is on 90% of PCs.

I have a question. It might sound srupid but I tried to look it up and could not find an answer...so here goes.
Does a president have the authority to FIRE government employees? I mean like ALL of them and start over?

All you need to know about government: Regulators Regulate - that's what they do. To reduce regulations you must reduce the number of regulators. Problem solved.

My brother in law who is with the State Dept told me many years ago that most of the laws in this country are written by mid level bureacrats.

The only way to get rid of these people is to do away with their job. That means shutting down agencies which even the GOP cannot bring themselves to think of. The only candidate for President in 2012 who could name agencies he would shut down was Newt.

I wonder if the people of UT won’t rise up against Mike Lee in 2016 the way they would not against Orrin Grant Hatch in 2012.

It depends on who the agency answers to. In most cases, I think the answer is yes.

Now if a President actually wanted to DownSize DC, can you imagine the reaction.

Of course if 1/2 of DC ceased to exist, the nation would feel a great burden removed. They are worse than worthless, the are non-contributors and destructors of society.

China has central planning by mathematicians, scientists, and engineers.
And the US has central planning by lawyers.
Neither is good, but by definition we lose.

You know, we have really two choices: vote for those who hate to see the destruction happening or for those who cheer the destruction and want to see it accelerated. Ultimately though both sets of officeholders fail us.
