It turns out that Senator Tom Coburn is a big supporter of Mark Levin’s new book The Liberty Amendments. When asked last night about this new 1000 plus page spending bill and the fact that the Senate will vote on it before anyone gets a chance to read it, Sen. Tom Coburn told Mark Levin that you can’t prevent this stuff from happening because all we have is a bunch of career politicians who only care about getting reelected. He says the only way to fix Washington is for the states to convene a Convention of the States and limit their power, something he definitely supports.

The Constitution has plenty of limits on government power. The problem is, the three branches of government collude to kick down those limits. The only, ONLY way to limit government is to limit the careers of big-government politicians in both parties.
ONLY after Tea Party members gain operational control of more states.

I’m with you on that one. What a disappointment Coburn showed himself to be.
I think the only hope is a public that is educated and cares. Given that as the only hope, there isn’t much hope for America.
Here’s the problem.....the purse is now located in DC and DC has turned the states into beggers.
Why? So they can officially take away our constitutional rights thant they currently scoff ??
No thanks. The rights handed down to us by the founders are just fine, Tom.

Back ~ 20 years ago when I was young+ naive I would buy books that’s entire subject was about something fixing Washington that had not a chance of happening,
I recall a book on congressional term limits. Never happening.
Not even worth debating.
All this whining, finally an idea I could get behind, and actively support.
We’ve already had a convention of states that came up with a system of government with limited federal powers. They even formalized it in a document that all the states ratified.
Resolved that in the opinion of Congress it is expedient that on the second Monday in May next a Convention of delegates who shall have been appointed by the several States be held at Philadelphia for the sole and express purpose of revising the Articles of Confederation and reporting to Congress and the several legislatures such alterations and provisions therein as shall when agreed to in Congress and confirmed by the States render the federal Constitution adequate to the exigencies of Government and the preservation of the Union.The rest is history.
Articles of Secession would be more effective.

The rights handed down to us are certainly not fine, as it is. They are being destroyed by congress AND voters who want government to be fundamentally transformed

The IRS has no liability in harassing right wing groups when Nixon was rightfully brought to impeachment for just thinking about doing that

Of course, Congress is much bigger now. Unfortunately the number of persons present to pass outrageously oppressive legislation has dwindled to one. And he's doing it, too.
Senator Coburn is my senator, and I think he’s done a reasonably good job given the circumstances. He’s not perfect, but he’s a far cry better than most of them. My biggest complaint is that’s he’s always civil toward the other side. I don’t think he understands that they are only civil when it serves their purposes, and they are definitely not playing by the same set of rules (in fact, they change or ignore rules when it serves them). Maybe he does understand that, but he thinks he needs to be nice regardless. I think it has something to do with his Christian faith.
I think Senator Coburn would have done far more to reign in government spending had we (Americans) given him more conservative allies in the Senate. The man has fought a losing battle from day one. Rather than blaming him for what’s wrong with D.C., maybe conservatives in other states need to work harder to replace their RINOs and Democrat senators.
When the 17th Amendment destroyed vertical separation of powers, when the states left the senate, ALL power fell into the laps of one president, 535 congressmen/senators, and nine black-robes.
Our Framers were realists and knew exactly what would happen. It did. The wonder is that it took 101 years for an authoritarian like Obama to emerge.
The leftists will have a lot of power at a convention of states or a Con-Con
