In what may be a sign to come for the midterm elections, Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan of North Carolina, who faces a tough re-election battle this year, stayed far away from President Barack Obama's visit to her home state on Wednesday.
And Republicans didn't let the snub go unnoticed.
Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group backed by the billionaire Koch Brothers, released a new web video Wednesday, labeling Hagan and Obama as best friends because of their support for the Affordable Care Act.
The ad blasts Hagan for repeating what's been dubbed Obama's "lie of the year": the President's broken pledge that if people liked their health care insurance, they'd be able to keep it under Obamacare.
"While her buddy Barack is in North Carolina, she's back in Washington, hiding out," the narrator says.
Obama traveled to North Carolina to highlight his administration's steps to bolster the manufacturing sector.
But with the President's approval rating dipping in recent months amid the bungled launch of HealthCare.gov, it's not a big surprise that a vulnerable Democrat in a Republican leaning state would want to keep her distance.
Hagan's office said the senator decided to stay in Washington because the Senate is in session on Wednesday. Responding to the web video from Americans for Prosperity, Hagan's campaign communications director, Sadie Weiner, called it "another political attack from a shadowy outside group that has no accountability to North Carolinians."

The ‘rats abandoning a sinking ship.
Wonder if she can steer clear of the video showing her in the well of the Senate stating that: “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”?
“Yes, and if she loses, even more Democrats will be freakin out.”
Apparently Obama publically thanked her in what is surely intended to damage her and punish her for not appearing with him. But the damage he did to himself with other Democrats will probably weigh heavily. Her only hope now is to turn on him and demand his impeachment. Pass the popcorn.
She is a RACIST Democrat!

No she can’t. It’s all over the internet.
She’s Obama’s parrot (or is it the other way around?)
she has been an Obama clone all along.
So surprised I've not seen any Dem outfits labeled by the MSM as backed by "billionaire George Soros" or "billionaire Irwin Jacobs" or "billionaire Jeff Katzenberg".
Has anything that a liberal RAT put forward as legislation ever been successful? NOT A RETORICAL QUESTION
Quite and impressive resume.
North Carolina deserves to be punished if they decide to re-elect Kay Hagan and pass over a guy like Greg Brannon.
Obama’s sock puppet
Some have said that she didn’t appear with Obama because she’s uncomfortable around black people.
Did ya’ll notice the “Clowns Are Us” props behind BO while he read his teleprompter ? Looked like they were bused in FRESH from COLORADO !
Senator Kay Hagan, backed by millionaire Barack Obama...
This state is getting to be a joke. I’ve been living up here in Southport for almost 15 years now. I was transferred up here (from FLA) and now that I’m retired I’m movin my Cajun butt back to FLA or LA (my home state),,,, don’t care which. There are more law enforcement officers around here than there are boat captains. It’s like a police state already due to liberal politicians. The POTUS is NOT,,,, repeat,,,, NOT well liked (said VERY mildly) in these parts. Hey!!!! I coulda said hated.
He has to win the Primary FIRST against a real establishment type guy..
“Obamas sock puppet”
Hagan is actually controlled by NY Senator Charles Schumer.
though most senators and congressional thieves despise the magic negro they all will gussie up to get their photos with him during his state of the union speech.
