Now they want to psych test your little children. What is New York going to do with that information?
A bill introduced by State Senator Margaret Markey, A8186-2013, calls for an amendment to education law to mandate psychological screenings for students in public schools as part of the required health certificate.
The law reads that a mandatory health certificate “shall also state that a psychological examination was performed and that the child is mentally fit to permit attendance at school.”
That’s not all. The bill further reads: “Each such certificate shall also state the student’s body mass index (BMI) and weight status category.”
What do they plan to do with this information? Why would we need it when New York already has massive regulations and programs for special education?
They also plan to leave it to the school physician or nurse to conduct a blood test for sickle cell anemia in those cases where they believe it is warranted.
This would apply to all new entrants, not just kindergarten children.

Markey, a Queens legislator, is famous for going after salt in cooking in restaurants and pushing for a sex abuse bill that targeted Catholic schools though the overwhelming majority of sex abuse cases occurred in public schools.
This bill does not have a co-sponsor and will probably go nowhere but people must understand one thing – this is where statists want to go.

No such concerns over future homosexuals though.

This will involve asking the child if the parents go to church, say bad things about Obama, own a gun, wants to be a dog or a girl.

Ahh. This is the next evolution of gun control. If we can label a kid with some mental illness (regardless of how innocuous), we can note their file and prevent them from ever being able to legally pass a background check to purchase firearms.

Followed the link to the bill text - the first paragraph or two are worse than they originally sound...if that is possible. Here’s a troubling exerpt which indicates they require students to be tested a total of four times throughout school and that the state can test any child at any time for any reason. That should help them determine if their efforts to eradicate spiritual faith or conservative values from the student population is working so they can fine tune their program.
“A health certificate shall be furnished by each student in the
public schools upon his or her entrance in such schools and upon his or
her entry into the grades prescribed by the commissioner in regulations,
provided that such regulations shall require such certificates at least
twice during the elementary grades and twice in the secondary grades. An
examination and health history of any child may be required by the local
school authorities at any time in their discretion to promote the educa-
tional interests of such child.”
Most 5 yr olds are maniacs of one type or another.

So where does he go if not mentally fit?
Actually I think that excerpt I posted means that the minimum testing is more than four times. It specifies upon entrance to schools AND upon entering grades specified for testing which shall be 2 times at the lower grades and 2 times at the upper grades. I went to 4 schools throughout my childhood because they were separated by grade 1-4, 5, 6-8 and 9-12. Depending on what grades mandate testing I might be tested anywhere from 5 to 8 times (approximately).
