Gallup: Only 3% of Americans Rank Immigration Reform as Top Priority (Boehner still determined!)

New polling data from Gallup shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans do not think handling immigration reform is even close to a top priority for 2014.

Immigration places well behind other issues like healthcare, jobs, the economy, dissatisfaction with Washington politicians, the debt and deficit, lack of money, ethics and moral issues, poverty, the gap between the rich and the poor, education, foreign aid and others. In fact, only three percent of Americans think the issue is a priority that must be dealt with this year.

“Americans start the new year with a variety of national concerns on their minds,” Gallup’s Lydia Saad wrote on Wednesday. “Although none is dominant, the government, at 21%, leads the list of what Americans consider the most important problem facing the country. The economy closely follows at 18%, and then unemployment/jobs and healthcare, each at 16%. No other issue is mentioned by as much as 10% of the public; however, the federal budget deficit or debt comes close, at 8%.”

In fact, immigration is so low among Americans’ priorities that Saad did not even mention it in her report on Gallup’s findings. It is, however, listed near the bottom of a chart of Americans’ priorities, slightly above welfare and “lack of respect for each other” as issues Americans think need to be dealt with.

That’s because Boner and the GOP-e no longer represent the interests of their constituents.

Sometimes, when I’m taken to flights of fancy, I close my eyes really tight and just try to imagine that we any sat at all about who crosses our borders.

This is one of the rare issues that UNITES many people on the right AND the left. Low wage workers, and union rank & file understand that, legalizing all these law breakers is going to be LOWER WAGES for them.

I’d like to see a poll done on what the American people want Congress to keep their damned hands off of. I bet amnesty would be right up there on that one.

Since when did Boehner give a damn about anything but his own club and the money the flows into it by useful idiots?

The GOP decided to make Mexican Nationals their top priority when the commie libs in the national “media” convinced them to “rebrand” themselves.

Boehner is being blackmailed just like John Roberts.

Something's going on. Politicians at his level don't ever run counter the will of their political base like this, unless they're being coerced in some way, or paid off.

So-called 'Immigration Reform' has been beat down by angry American voters every time the Congress has tried to pass it. It's one of the most unpopular things they keep trying to do - and yet, they persist.

There's either a lot of money trading hands in brown paper bags, or dossiers being dangled on a string. Probably a combination of the two.

Their constituents are their corporate paymasters. We who elect them are just the enablers.

It doesn't matter.

98% of the Chamber of Commerce have it listed as their first priority, and that is the only constituency that matters to the current GOP.

The base needs to demand that Boner resign! Primary the RINO.

That is assuming they did at one time. I am not sure Boner ever represented anything but himself.

Congressional jerks get big donations on this issue. That’s why it’s important to them - legal bribes. How nice of them to make that kind of ‘pay to play’ crap legal for themselves...

Obama, or whoever controls him, is blackmailing and/or threatening most of the Republicans. That’s it. That’s the explanation for pretty much everything that’s happened in DC in the past five years.
