McConnell’s primary challenger raises $900,000

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R) primary opponent, businessman Matt Bevin, raised $900,000 in the fourth quarter, according to his campaign.

About half of Bevin's total appears to have been raised by the Senate Conservatives Fund, which has endorsed his campaign and said this month that it had raised $450,000 for him. Bevin's campaign said about $430,000 of the total was raised with SCF's help.

The total doesn't include any self-funding from Bevin, who had previously loaned his campaign $600,000. His campaign did not release a cash-on-hand figure, but it had just $164,000 on hand at the beginning of October.

Bevin is very likely to be hugely outspent in the primary. McConnell already had $10.3 million in the bank at the beginning of October. He has not announced his fourth-quarter fundraising totals yet, and neither has Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, the leading Democratic candidate.

McConnell is one of several GOP incumbents being targeted in a primary this year. Others include Sens. Thad Cochran (Miss.), Pat Roberts (Kan.) and John Cornyn (Tex.).

It takes a dictator to effect real change.

Lincoln was a dictator, and so is Obama.

The fatal flaw in the US Constitution is that there is NOTHING that a POTUS can't do if he has impeachment proof majority in either branch of Congress.

Who knows, when the right gets the power, there might just step out of the shadows a leader that will do what it takes to cripple the American marxists so severely that they can never threaten us again.

Thank you for donating your time and experience to help defeat Mitch McConnell. If I lived in KY, I’d give 40 hrs. a week to the Bevin Campaign, in addition to working my day job. I’d be interested in hearing what the “pulse” of this election is among the good people of Kentucky.

On average a successful Senate run takes $10 million dollars. That probably doesn’t include fighting a primary. (Just sayin’.)

REMEMBER TED CRUZ! He defeated a well-funded, well-known, well-entrenched TX Lt. Governor. We can, and will, do it again numerous times in the GOP Primaries this year.

I wonder how many FReepers are crying about the TEA Party putting up challenges to GOPes

I’ve seen numerous ones stating their disdain with Dr. Wolf for challenging Pat Roberts in Kansas.

If Mitch loses the primary you can bet the GOPe will not be sending too many dollars to Bevin.

Screw the GOPe. Matt won’t need them once he gets past Mitch McConnell. The anti-Obama, anti-Democrat and anti-ObamaCare sentiments in Kentucky will carry him across the finish line in November.

There are freepers who implore us to vote for whatever RINO they nominate, do they ever show up on the Bevin and Lee Bright threads?

Well, you would probably count ME in that group. Once a nomination is made, I'm usually one of the people on the board trying to convince people to NOT stay home, or throw their vote away on a 3rd party.

Though, the margin seems to get smaller every year,

even RINO's are usually better than RATS.

The time to FIGHT is NOW! In the primary. If we can't take over the Republican Party? How in the world do you think we can take over the country?

I don't see this as a flaw. I think, it was intended.

Basically, the President can do whatever he wants... as long as he has the POLITCAL backing of the people.

It's up to "WE, the PEOPLE" to demand something different from a tyrant. If WE refuse? WE get what WE deserve.

I’d be interested in hearing what the “pulse” of this election is among the good people of Kentucky.

The people of Kentucky, mostly, are fed up with Mitch McConnell. It's TIME for him to move on.

However... they're not going to "Ditch Mitch" for some unknown person. They don't KNOW Matt Bevins yet. But, they're starting to.

IMO, Matt was hurt by some very early HEAVY negative advertising that McConnell ran on TV and radio... stuff claiming that Matt was falsely claiming a degree from MIT. Bevins apparently didn't have the money to respond in kind. However, these days? A web site can pretty effectively dispel such claims. When you see the TRUTH about this story? It opens your eyes to the level of dishonesty to which McConnell will stoop. If there ever was a bloom on that rose? It's gone now.

It took me several months to make up my mind about Bevins. But, I have. I am CONVINCED he is trustworthy enough to support, publicly... and, I've begun doing so.

Once THIS kind of battle is taken up? Losing is NOT an option. McConnell is powerful, and vindictive. He MUST be defeated.

Grimes will NOT win an a state-wide race in Kentucky. The battle is NOW, in the primary. And, I think it's going to be a tough one.

Thanks for the insight. One advantage for Bevins: Only die-hards and old people vote in the Primary. Those who vote just because they recognize the name will not be at the polls until November.

That's true. The bar is NOT set impossibly high in a Primary. ACTIVATED people really can make a difference.

Kentucky is also a closed primary state. So, ONLY registered Republicans will be voting.

What is clear is that the left's will is always underestimated until it's too late to avoid physical confrontation. They cannot be stopped by reason. They cannot be stopped by political means. They cannot be stopped by legal process. They termite away at every foundational element of civil society until they cause the collapse they seek and then they climb up on the rubble of their creation and proclaim themselves "king of the hill".

That's worth repeating.

Palin could support Bevin and so could Limbaugh and Levin

Time for these three to step up and knock degenerates like Mcconnell out.

I think they will. But, they also have to get through the vetting process.

I was disappointed with Rand Paul (who I also volunteered for) endorsed McConnell. But, I understand. He IS the Minority Leader. He has the power to make things very difficult for Rand.

Paul has been fairly, um... quiet.. with his support.

I’m disgusted by LIBs/DIMs/RINOs. All are destructive to Freedom. All must eliminated from any position of responsibility. Eventually, they will murder your Freedom and that of your family. Pox upon them.
