House passes bill requiring health care numbers

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Thursday backed a bill that would require the Obama administration to report weekly on how many Americans have signed up for health care coverage as Republicans maintain an election-year spotlight on the troubled law. The vote was 259-154, with 33 Democrats breaking ranks and joining the GOP majority in supporting the legislation. It marked the second time in a week — and certainly not the last — that the House has targeted President Barack Obama's law, with Republicans confident that Americans' unease with the overhaul will produce major GOP wins in the November elections.

Some of the most vulnerable Democrats facing re-election this fall from Arizona, Georgia, New York and Florida voted for the bill. Last week, 67 Democrats bucked the administration and backed a bill to bolt new security requirements on the law.

The bill would require the administration to report weekly on the number of visits to the government health care website, the number of Americans who applied and the number of enrollees by ZIP code, as well as other statistics. It stands no chance in the Democratic-led Senate.

The administration has reported monthly on enrollment, announcing last week that 2.2 million signed up through the end of December and nearly 4 million had been deemed eligible for Medicaid. Those reports are insufficient, Republicans argued.

"We know the president's health care law is driving up costs for middle-class families, making it harder for small businesses to hire, and hurting the economy - but there's still a lot we don't know," said House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, contending that the administration "hasn't provided a clear picture of where enrollment stands."

The administration opposes the measure, saying it has been providing information on enrollments and the added requirements would force it to hire new staff as government expense......................Since when does Obama worries about hiring more government employees?

See how the GOP fights?

No ads or press conferences featuring those who policies got cancelled.

No giving primetime speeches on the disaster that is Obamacare.

No educating the people about how American health care has changed forever for the worse.

Nope, more accepting the premise, the narrative, that Obamacare is here to stay and we're going to "fight" it by having a lawless administration post some enrollment numbers that will be as false as the unemployment numbers, assuming if it passes the Senate first.

All my docs received email from UHC today re administration of the grace period for people enrolled in a Qualified Health plan who have not yet paid their premium.

For those not receiving any advance payments under Obamacare, there is no grace period. For those receiving advance payments under Obamacare, a grace period of three consecutive months for non-payment of premiums was established. Doctors will be paid for claims during the first and probably second month but maybe not for the third. Fortunately none of my doctor clients have seen anyone who has a Qualified Health Plan.

But this is going to be a nightmare when people don’t pay, the insurance company takes the money out of the doctors checking account, because everything has to be done by Electronic Funds Transfer now, and the patients do not repay the doctor.

Yep, more posturing by the House Republicans and a few democrats up for reelection.

If by some miracle it did pass the Senate, does anybody really believe that Barack Asshole Obama would actually sign it?

According to the Kelly file that 4 million number is a flat out lie.

It seems they counted all those currently ON medicare that had to renew their coverage.
The real number is only 380,000.
