An 18-year-old mentally ill boy who was killed by police was 'shot to death like dog', a close family friend said today.
Keith Vidal was already restrained by two police officers when a third officer shot him in the chest on Sunday after allegedly saying 'I don't have time for this'.
The officer was preparing to fire a second shot when he was grabbed by the victim's step father.
Vidal, who was having a schizophrenic episode, did not pose a threat to any of the officers - who had been called to help by his family, friends said.

My mother has been director of psych hospital for 2 decades and still is. She says the same thing and deals with all the folks the police and other hospitals dump on them daily. That’s all she does.
But she hasn’t had to kill any patient.
Maybe she has more time?
Well,you see...a hospital ER has a couple of advantages over a cop when facing such a situation.
1)They have a least several big,burly (male) nurses and nurses aides.
2) They have leather restraints that can be placed on the wrists,the ankles and the torso.
3) They have drugs so powerful and so fast acting that they can bring a charging rhino (the four legged kind,not Juan McLame) to its knees before you can say "nighty-night".

this ain’t Officer Friendly or Deputy Fife anymore. These are the jackbooted thugs that shoot at will these days.

Given the facts that have been reported, it makes absolutely no sense why the LEO would shoot into a pile of people on the floor. None. Why would he use lethal force in a situation like this. Something doesn’t add up.
Their "story" is that a cop walked in and executed a subdued 18 year old kid. Honestly, how likely is that? I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely. If it is true, then I think the cop in question should have the book thrown at him to the fullest extent. All I'm suggesting is to think about it.
I’m ambivalent about the Kelly Thomas verdict. Twelve jurors saw something I didn’t and cut them loose. Likewise, this case will have more to offer than what the media chooses to report. And while I typically, without hesitation, side with law enforcement, a jackboot licker I ain’t. But I surely don’t call them pigs either. I save that for hippies.
I bet you’d also say it highly unlikely that cops would beat a man to death as he was crying out for his father to save him, and then laugh about the man crapping his pants from the fatal beating.
Nah. They are all under such stress and have high standards... notwithstanding of course that standards for civilians is to get a felony assault for merely saying stop or that the military hasndouble jeopardy....
We are not talking about this kind of stress and standards. (Sarc off)
Fact of the matter, a cop is someone who has an entire army of buddies and lawyers to protect them and make them say the right thing. We ask for a lawyer or a witness or a recording and see what happens.
The group said that three officers from three agencies responded to Vidal's house "due to the dangerous nature of the call."
Vidal "failed to comply with repeated requests to surrender the deadly weapon," which the 911 caller said was a screwdriver, the Police Benevolent Association reported.
What the officers did next -- such as using a Taser -- were "authorized and necessary law enforcement procedures ... to promote safety for everyone involved, including Vidal," the group added.
The detective fired after Vidal "made physical contact with the (Boiling Spring Lakes officer) using the hand holding the deadly weapon," the police association said in its statement.
"The officers present realized the immediate and deadly threat to (the officer's) life," said the group.

I think I might be more open minded than you in such cases.
But, since we're expounding, here's my "theory". Boy is threatening mother with a screwdriver and having a "bad episode". Stepdad calls the cops as he has 20 times before to deal with the boy. Cops attempt to subdue boy, but boy flails around and refuses to relinquish the screwdriver, striking one of the officers. Cop fires, killing the boy. Stepdad initially says that cop says "we don't have time for this.....taze him." (there's video of this). Stepdad starts getting crap from mom about involving the cops. Stepdad deflects and later changes story to "cop says we don't have time for this and shoots boy". All to assuage his guilt at having involved the cops which ultimately resulted in the boy's death.
My "story" is just as plausible as yours. Neither of us knows, and all I asked that we remain open minded and not run off half-cocked and jumping to conclusions about police brutality.
He was having his night disturbed and saw the kid reaching for his cellphone — sufficient reason for a police shooting these days.
