"Lone Survivor" is a true life story of a Navy SEAL raid in Afghanistan against a Taliban target that goes horribly wrong. Of the four man team, only one, Marcus Luttrell, survived to tell the tail.
By all accounts audiences are flocking to the movie, which depicts how the SEALs sacrificed themselves by refusing to execute a group of goat herders who had stumbled upon them, who then exposed them to the Taliban. The team subsequently was obliged to fight for their lives against an overwhelming force of the terrorists in a stand that might be compared to the Alamo, Thermopylae, or the epic of Flight 93.
"Lone Survivor" is being called a piece of "racist" and "jingoistic" war propaganda in certain quarters.

EVERY patriot in the United States ( and their entire families ) should go to see this movie . Twice ...Let our overwhelming numbers and attendance tell the story . Let us utterly shame & silence these a-holes that defame the SEALs and their mission .

I usually don’t go to theaters but stood in line last Friday night for this one. Seriously thinking about going back this weekend. Outstanding movie. Ten times better than the crap that was nominated for the commie lib, liberal love fest trophies this morning.

If you liked the movie, you will really like the book. It’s worth the read. The respect meter will peg for these people and their families. As far as the critics, my mom used to remind me about mean-spirited comments: consider the source.
Let’s see...hmmm, four white guy SEALS spared three brown guy Taliban goat herders and canceled their mission knowing it would mean a good chance of them being attacked.
Hmm...I wonder, would a similar group of Taliban fighters have done the same if they found four Christian/white sheep herders in the mountains?
And then later, a brown guy Muslim, not a Taliban, saved the last surviving white guy Navy SEAL. Took him in and risked his life and that of his family and village to help him.

I didn't realize Peter Berg directed this movie. Glad to see he's recovered from his "Battleship" debacle (a film I'll admit I truly enjoyed despite it being a huge bomb).
The only movie that liberals would love to see are the Taliban portrayed as nice guys who kill those mean mean American Soldiers. The left despises our military, they cheer every time a marine dies..I am seeing Lone Survivor tomorrow and I can’t wait to see it
I agree with you 1000%!!!! Went to see this magnificent film yesterday afternoon. Normally the movie theater gets very light traffic at this time, mid-week. When the wife and I got to the movie theater to buy tickets, we were amazed that there were two lines with roughly fifty folks in each line waiting to buy tickets.
The theater was just about full except for the very close-up seats. The theater hold about two hundred people, I estimate at least 150 people were there. During the movie....there was not a sound, a cough, a sneeze!!! The movie is stunning and probably ranks among the best of war films...if not the best one!!!
There is no racism...period. This is a story of love, devotion, bravery and loyalty between a “band of brothers” caught in a fight that could only have ended in death through their mercy. There is unexpected kindness and mercy given out by the “Seals” that costs them their lives. There is also mercy and protection for the one survivor from the “Brown” Afghan village people.
We saw the movie “American Hustle” recently. It’s a terrific movie that is the one and only movie that deserves an “Academy Award” as best picture by far. Sandra bullock’s flick, “Gravity” is in the same league.....but IMHO “Lone Survivor” blows both those films away. You are absolutely right.....every American should see this maginificent, outstanding film, “Lone Survivor”. Peter Berg has produced a masterpiece that will live forever. And....actor, Mark Wahlberg and the entire cast of the movie gets five stars & more!!!
Since the Revolutionary War up to the present military struggles in Afghanistan.....we have always had common soldiers, sailors, etc., that have perfromed uncommon, extraordinary, brave service in defense of out nation. It’s is clearly time that...we the people, turnout by the millions to view this film in honor, love, respect and gratitude for their...and their families and loved ones service & sacrifice so that we can sleep safely and in peace tonight!!!

The conviction of what it feels to witness something that noble is just too much for their demented minds to handle. I pity them. They attack something far beyond their comprehension and ability to reason. They are cowards.
